Northwestern 96, Illinois 91 OT Postgame

Things I liked.
1. Coleman doing some good things offensively at the rim. Gaining confidence with the ball in the lane is a good thing for him.
2. Q continues to impress with his game at both ends. Just a smart player who knows what to do. Becoming quite close to a dependable shooter from the arc...maybe is? Still the FT line is his achilles where he still has too much wasted motion and needs to be quieter and move efficiently with his lift.
3. MD plays another good offensive game,
4. Team hit them back in the mouth at every exchange. That leads to a treat for fans who observed a very high quality game with high quality play
5. 10 Turnovers, a good thing overall.

Things I did not like:
1. Losing a hard fought game.
2. Not having an answer to stop BB on the high p and r.

Overall, this game was again won and lost as determined by the B1G gnome. He decided before the game who would win, but unlike most games in which he is involved, he did not swat away 70+% of the shots of the Illini. Instead, he let the ones going through to do just that. But tonight, the few times the Illini had the ball rolling around the edge of the rim, he just tipped it out with his toe. You could see it happen if you looked closely. That little sucker was dancing on the heel of the rim, laughing all the time, and wearing purple clothing.

At what point if you’re TSJ or Harmon do you go I f*cking have Buie and I’m not switching?? That sh*t was so frustrating

Brad went to that 5 man switching defense ...

You start having guys do ISO stuff and not what Brad wants ... You get what we had last year ...

Brad needs to take the blame for the defense and make an adjustment going forward ...

Yeah, the Sweet 16 drought is the absolute bane of my sports fandom existence. Just have everything rolling by Mid-March please
I hear you, and I agree...but this seems to be kicking the can down the road.

Tonight was about missing shots within arms reach of the bucket, and not being able to take control of the game. We played a good team in their house, even though we've had an awesome presence there historically. Tonight we didnt, at least from the TV perspective. Defense travels, but you have to unpack it from.your carry on bag. We didnt.

A great team wins this game. Close game. Not a fluke blow out.

We are absolutely awful on out of timeout possessions ... I need to take the time and figure out the % of those plays we actually score on ...

It is probably one the biggest things that bothers me about Brad ... Execution out of timeouts ... Awful .... And whether that be players, play design ...

To be honest ... I do not care ... Get the :poop: fixed ...
shoot, 99% of our out of bounds plays are post Hawkins at the free throw line and lob pass it. Sweet, we get the ball in bounds but never seem to get easy baskets.

Good things to dwell on in a disappointing loss. Please add on to prevent depression.
1. Domask starting to hit 3’s
2. Coleman most consistent player (who’d think?)
3. Terrance wasn’t concussed when he hit his face
4. Brad will save some calories. Won’t be eating buttered popcorn in the presser.
5. Northwestern proved they have an inferior law school to UofI when chanting “Guilty” before trial
6. Unless we see them in tourney time, will never have to play against Boo again
7.Offensive rebounding.
9. Getting to the line early and often.
10. Few fouls.
8.

They always praise the best player from the winning team. It’s literally the most brain dead analysis. “Wow this guy was on fire they couldn’t stop him!!”

Doesn’t mean it’s not true…. But… :ROFLMAO:
Change the channel like I did. The drool was too much for me!!

Was it though? I honestly thought the crowd wasn't over the top bad. He is going to get worse than that other places. Obviously we all know what they meant by "no means no," but it was a somewhat indirect way of getting to that point.
Think about the absolute most awful and embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you and then imagine 7,000 people chanting it at you…. On live tv. Ya it was brutal for that young man I guarantee it.

Such an ugly game. Was waiting for us to take over and it just never really happened. Thought OT would do us good since the superior team should win, right?!

And I’m sorry, but what the hell was the call at the end of regulation? Domask to back someone down? We were tied!! Why wasn’t the call for TSJ to drive and draw the foul?? Make one and win the game.

He did in his very short post game conference. Maybe lasted 3 minutes.

Updated: Lasted about 4 and 1/2 minutes.

Hol up. Machismo isn't the way to stop a good slasher, and DEFINITELY not Boo Buie. The heck? Gotta have team defense. Boo made his regular circus shots, but the problem was we didn't effectively counter Goode being hunted. Didn't make him earn it.
