Ohio State 68, Illinois 63 (OT) POSTGAME

What in the actual heck was that ending?

A botched fake dribble handoff, followed by 3 uncalled fouls by us.

Looked like Nunn not happy with Hill's decision to fake the handoff.

Which game was it we lost earlier where at the end we missed a Hill layup, a Finke dunk, and someone's wide open three, all of which would've one the game? Before tonight, that was the gme that had me down the most. Tonight topped that one.

Seth Davis said on air that Groce has unfairly caught heat from the fan base. And Davis is pro-Illinois. Has said in the past that they are a premier job. This is a guy who covers the game for a living so I'll trust his opinion over the impulsive pissy and whiny portion of the fan base.

Honest question: When have you ever...ever heard an announcer advocate for a coach being let go?

I can't figure this team out... Do games like these mean there is light at the end of the tunnel or is the opponent just that bad?

This wasn't Teddy losing the game for us. C'mon. Why was Malcolm taking the last shot? Poor execution and shooting. If we make free throws we win and no one mentions Teddy.

Well TV Teddy let Giddens (sp?) take cheap shots at least twice with no foul on one place alone

True, but Davis says this stuff on his twitter feed, articles, etc. He has always been very pro-Illinois....except when he picked Arizona in the Elite Eight in 05

Providence I believe

The problem I have with the complaining for a foul is that Hill is built like a man compared to Diop. If he would have been strong with the ball he wouldn't have turned it over.

What? Just because he is similar size, a foul shouldn't have been called? Hill got drilled, period. Doesn't matter how "strong he is with the ball."

Can't watch us play one on one offense forever. We are terribly easy to defend.

Great comeback in regulation, JCL was dynamic. Sad to see it wasted by an OT performance like that.

The effort level tonight is really what I am looking for with this team. Honestly this was a borderline NCAA team if healthy (I think they would have made it) but without 3 starters they are really reliant on grit and 3 point shooting. They put up a fight against a much more physically talented OSU team. The fact they forced overtime in a game that they couldn't throw the ball in the ocean was impressive.

Your argument has a couple of holes....if Illiinois is a premier job should we miss the tournament 3 years in a row.....he said he has a lot of fight....Davis has to say something and Groce is a nice guy....he feels bad that he's going to lose his job.

If an announcer thinks a coach should be let go, he simply doesn't say anything regarding the issue. If he thinks a fan base is crazy for wanting a change, he says something; just like he did tonight.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you completely, it's just that announcers usually back coaches to a great degree. Doesn't mean that he wasn't being sincere though.

I'm sorry guys, I totally understand the frustration with the officiating, it was bad. But OSU did everything they could to give us this game and we still lost... at home... And here is why
1) We got destroyed and embarrassed on the boards (I do partially blame Groce for this)
2) We sucked at the free throw line
3) We had Horrendous offensive execution from about the 6 minute mark of the game all the way through OT
4) Hill, who is our best player, matched up very poorly against OSU. He had trouble all night getting his shot to fall. And unfortunately, it took him too long to stop shooting and start driving. Even worse, he tried to save the day on far too many possessions at the end and was unsurprisingly unsuccessful at hero ball.

Yeah as opposed to Doug Gottlieb and Tim Doyle who say we need to "know our place"

Tim Doyle got his !!! beat by Kendall Gill for running his mouth....Tim Doyle doesn't run his mouth as much now

Seth covers the entire NCAA, how much do you think he spends watching and paying attention to the irrelevant program we are right now?

I mean come on, analysts never call for a coaches job . I'm not going to adjust my expectations for what I expect out of the coach of this program because of a national analyst who doesn't follow this team 1% of what we all do.
