Ohio State 75, Illinois 73 POSTGAME

Gutsy effort. JCL and MF have very bright futures. MF might be the most unselfish talented player we've had in a long time. Seems like an outstanding kid, and the experience he's gaining this season will pay huge dividends down the road. Even if LB returns, MF has to start the rest of the season and should start next year at the 4 alongside (hopefully) MT. JCL's shooting stroke is beautiful to watch.

Great game. Should have fouled when the press didn't create a turnover. But they fought in the 2nd half and had a 50 footer for the win. On to the next one.

What questionable sub rotations are being cited? We've been guilty of leaving too much offense off the floor earlier in the year (AA minutes), but I didn't see much to complain about tonight. I understood the AA for Finke substitution at the end too, Lyle just gave him a great move.

i didn't like subbing in AA for MF. you lose on defensive rebounding, you lose on offense and i'm not sure what AA brings defensively. What is the logic? 5 guards for a better chance at a steal?

Did anyone else, listening to Shon Morris, think that he must have been a very immobile player in his day? He is extremely focused on whether the pass is perfectly in the "pocket" or the catcher has to move a little bit. Just made me laugh a little bit.

He's probably right, by the way, just thought it was funny how often he talked about the pocket

Good game tonight. Wish it would have been a win but I felt like our boys competed their tail ends off. We have zero margin of error in every game due to our outrageous number of injuries this season. Nunn looks like he will get some big10 honors the way he is playing. I thought the coaches did a good job tonight.

Really proud of the effort, tough to absorb another loss with MSU and Purdue looming. Hopefully these guys can keep this attitude going and get some wins once the schedule gets a little easier.

Superb effort by the guys tonight! Outside of the final score, I got no complaints.

I think it's as simple as Finke doesnt bring much defense around the rim, and is slow on rotations in zone. Try to get 5 quick defenders to push them out and force a deep shot.

It didn't work out.

Freshmen are really growing up. For Finke and JCL to put up 14 each on the road I big time. This team is becoming more and more competitive. It may not make a difference this season but definitely bodes well for the future.

Great fight....man it would have been nice to see Black in there grabbing 10 boards...oh well

Two pleasant thoughts about the future. Wish we had more, but I least I do feel like the needle is pointing up.

JCL's 4 more 3 pt'ers gives him 36 for his frosh year. Moves into an 8th place tie with Brandon Paul for most 3 pt'ers by a freshman. Next in sight is 42 by Frank Williams.

OSU has a ton of talent, but its youth shows in its lack of attention to detail on defense and its heavy reliance on iso plays on O. The Loving kid, though, has a chance to be a good pro someday. Tremendous all-around talent with excellent athleticism to match. We had no answer for him defensively.

Confident a Valentine-less MSU can be beaten with today's effort.

Haven't felt this good after a game since UAB. Smart coaching and great effort today. Thought game plan was great, only call I question is AA for Finke substitution.

At home, given the slight benefits conferred by hometown officiating and a familiar arena, I think the boys win this one.

Agree 100%, but no point debating these eejits.

16 conference games plus the BTT remain.
Think he could hit 80.
Only a little more than 2 per game. He's very capable of that

MH had a great game on D but seemed like he was pressing a little on offense in last 4 min. There were a couple of drives where he had open kickouts to KN and JCL...overall great effort for 40 minutes.

To be able to switch all screening action. In the first half we got killed on players turning the corner on the ball screen.
