I think I saw the splint is off now, and he made 2-2 from the FT line vs Michigan. I agree it was affecting him previously, but fortunately now he should be OK there.

I thought I saw the splint in the Michigan game, but I am really glad to hear it is gone. JT does not need any impediments to his shooting.

Value City Arena with a BB capacity of 18,800 had an announced 12,798 (sold) and probably fewer with no shows today. You'd think tOSU is a FB school or something. Upper deck looked relatively empty. Of course, no students and Sunday p.m. didn't help.

Just listened to the presser.
Surprised how much emphasis JG put on us fouling too much and that a foul is a mistake. I was not bothered by our fouling at all. Guess that is the difference between a coach and an amateur. hmm

Is it just me, cause I always thought that once you are in the double bonus and you get fouled (even if it's an offensive foul) you're supposed to shoot free throws?
There was that play where I think fine drew a charge but we didn't get any free throws, what was with that?

It's crazy to think that we only had 5 more fouls but 28 fewer free throw attempts. That was obviously the difference.

i didn't like subbing in AA for MF. you lose on defensive rebounding, you lose on offense and i'm not sure what AA brings defensively. What is the logic? 5 guards for a better chance at a steal?

Who ya going to throw in there, Mav= o rebounds and no d

I was moved to #$*% language when it happened and if I remember right there were only about 50-60 seconds left in the game. Have to think that 60 seconds of Finke tired is better than AA fresh. That was what surprised me.

You don't get FTs when you draw a charge. There was another play where a foul was called and we didn't get any FTs, I believe that was because there was no possession of the ball, so again no FTs.

I guess you expect to be able to win when shooting 28 less free throws. Yeah that's amateur status. But I guess everyone has to find something little to diss on Groce. That was the difference in the game free throws oh yeah any amateur could tell that.

I wondered about that second play you mentioned, assuming we are thinking of the same play. It was a loose ball, but announcers said possession did not change so no free throws.

I always thought only player control fouls did not result in free throws. Can anyone confirm?

Player control fouls do not result in foul shots. However, the other time that you remember was on a loose ball. Loose ball fouls do result in free throws. It doesn't matter on whether or not we had posession or not. The refs blew that one, but Tate would have been shooting and maybe we were better off getting the ball out of bounds. :D

Yeah, didn't remember the exact explanation given, but it did seem a little odd. Would have to go back and watch it again.

Morris was the one that said we didn't have posession, but neither did OSU which means it was a loose ball foul.

The only possible explanation is the official thought that the OSU guy did have posession and fouled Tate while he had the ball (which was obviously not what happened). Tate was going to beat him to the ball and he tried to hold him back.

This alone is enough for me to justify more time for our HC. It's not perfect, but players are developing, and that cannot be overlooked.

And nunn and hill were ahead of where Paul and DJ were at each of their first free years as well which is exciting for not only those two but for the current freshman and their projections as well.

Great effort. Loved seeing the team compete to the very end. Hope we can build on this game, get a win or two, and maybe go on a run. The youngsters are sure getting some experience.

Great effort, thought the zone we played really helped. Need to attack the basket better. But can't complain about this game, the guys were hustling their tails off...

Well, if there is such a thing as a moral victory, here's one.

This had the feel of "The Perfect Storm". We all knew we were going to lose, but at least the team made it interesting and entertaining. And just like in the movie there was that moment about three minutes from the end when we had the lead and there's the break in the clouds and we could think "well maybe..."

And then George Clooney says, "she's not going to let us out". And Marc Loving dunks after a turnover, and drills a three-pointer. And then the big wave hits.

Maybe this will be the psychological turning point toward a decent season. Or maybe this will be where things fall apart. At least it was a good tragedy, rather than a totally dispiriting blowout.
