Did not see the game as we were driving. However, watching the replay now. Score is 35-14. My impressions:
1. Exactly the results I expected. These kids have to get to know each other and who can get buckets and stops against good competition. That will take months...hopefully less than a handful.
2. Old Miss shooting the lights out in their own gym...and the crowd is almost silent.
3. Play a return match in SFC next week and the result would likely be reversed. Such is college hoops.
4. This team can be good, but they need to learn quickly what is good and what isn't.
5. This team needs an Alpha dog and I did not see one.
6. My expectations for this team extend over a two year period. They also depend on BU getting them all to return next year and adding a stud who can rebound and score. This team is likely winning nothing, but I will pull for them as hard as anyone until the last game. This is a season to learn and there is much of that to be done.

All that said, if the learning curve is climbed up fast enough, there will be some exciting games along the way. I am setting my goal to make the dance.

For an off shooting day we still put up a good amount so that’s a positive too

I didn't watch or follow the game, but I'm surprised by a few things in the comments:

*Boswell not mentioned until about post 35
*Boswell only mentioned a couple times
*Comments about our poor ball handling and movement
*Comments about Boswell should play more PG

Isn't Boswell a PG? I thought that is why we sought him and brought him (or bought him, if you please)??
Moderation.

Do all the SEC Network basketball announcers sound like Pete Twinkle and Greg Stink or just these two?

What happened to Ivisic not playing in this game? Or was that the Butler scrimmage?
Yeah, that was Butler. BU had said a couple days ago he’d play in this one
Edit: can’t exactly remember if BU said it or it was just reported on

Let's not lose sight....everyone but Humrichous is elgible to return next year. This team is SUPER talented, and has a ton of potential. It will take time, but I am confident Brad can get them to their ceiling by March.

Starting lineup should be:
Boswell
KJ
White
Hummer
Ivisic

Bench (In order of rotation)
Will Riley
DGL
Morez
Ty
Carey
Jake

LOL oh brother that is some 180 proof, weapons grade spin.

Like, nothing I could ever say could be as negative of a post as "but think about next year" when our 18 year olds got punched in the face in their first game, first game together, on the road, against an older more experienced team that's probably better than them anyway.

And yet it passes for optimism or hype somehow. Bizarre.

Meanwhile on planet earth, this game being a bridge too far at this stage was the most foreseeable thing ever. This year (THIS year) is going to be a process but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

And THEN we will have massive roster turnover and buy a new team that we will be talking ourselves into at this time next year, because BU is BU and CBB in 2024 is CBB in 2024. Trust the process, in case you haven't noticed it's been working.

My point is that this isn't just a one year process with this team. We will be able to watch a lot of these guys grow the next couple of years which is exciting. Yes, a couple will leave. This team this year can be really good, clown behavior per usual

Lot of assumptions here but I hope we get to see this play out. Also, looking forward to clown behavior 🤣

That just doesn't have credibility when this is our third create-a-team in three years, and high and surprising turnover has been a constant of the BU era even before when NIL started going nuts.

Now, that has been very successful for us and is well suited to our staff and the nature of these times in college basketball. And I fully acknowledge that there is an intent here to not have this whole team scatter to the wind after the season, I get it.

But I just find it laughable to so transparently seed that as a narrative excuse.

This is an extremely talented team that has been created to succeed THIS year. It's also very raw, not experienced with each other and has a looming NCAA handicap. Maybe those risks wind up sinking the ship, that's a possibility. If they do, I can assure you that *I* will not be making Zach Hamer voodoo dolls out of my own hair, nor writing romance fanfiction about Whitman and Sean Miller, nor slandering any player who makes eyes for the exit door. *I* believe in what this staff is doing enough to take a mulligan and keep pushing if this batch doesn't work out.

But today's result should do basically nothing to affect your view of the season's expectations one way or another.

I hope we have Tomi by the Alabama game. You think it’ll happen?

He played too passively to provide a definitive answer to your question.

1) Glad I got to see the Illini play
2) You could certainly tell which team has been together and which hasn't.
3) We will shoot better
4)Happy to see DGL actually showing what Coach has been saying.
5) Was hoping that Davis was going to force himself into the rotation, but if he does it will be during a later game.
6) We need Tomi
7) Morez is awesome!
8) We need to see more
9) Underwood will be able to teach more easily, because they will know that they really need to improve.

Until the UConn game, we didn’t lose by more than 10 last year. We were spoiled.

So many TO’s, missed FT’s, and little D. Got run out of the stadium by the projected 9th best SEC team.

I see our talent, potential, and remain high on this team. Disappointed by the lack of a leader to settle the team down and limit TO’s. Brad, run’em!
I'd be shocked if ole miss is below 5 in sec after watching their impressive D and 3p shooting against us. Malik Dia is one impressive transfer.

Well you got to the right conclusion even if you had to beat the heck out of a straw man on the way there.

My #1 priority would be cleaning up the turnovers, which should happen over time. There were too many plays today where the guys were not on the same page that chemistry and experience should resolve. My least favorite possession outcome is seeing a pass go out of bounds solely because the recipient did not understand where he was supposed to be/didn't expect it coming to him, because that's the team beating itself.

I'm sorry, but talking about next year right after our first public game qualifies as clown behavior in my book. And your comment about Ben is clownish as well just a week or so after the talk of his pro potential.
