Outstanding news! I hope he comes along nicely with no lingering issues.

After watching the Iowa State / Oklahoma game last night I can't forget how our team was coming around during the Providence game and the Iowa State game when Big Mike got hurt. We were right there and hopefully Black is not far behind and we need to win that B1G tournament !!

I don't expect Black to play again this season.

Reading some Indiana threads and they're not taking this one lightly. Some IU fans are even saying they're due for a bad loss and it may come tonight w/ Illinois being desperate for a W. I don't see us winning at assembly hall, but if Nunn and Hill play well, they could make this uncomfortable for the loosiers...it would probably take that and a step-up performance from someone like Finke or JCL to come away with an upset.... I ain't optimistic, but I hope it's not a blow out.

Based on what? I haven't seen any news regarding his rehab or if he is practicing.

This:

It makes more sense to redshirt Black IMO, let him fully heal and then have him for 3 more years

Thorne wanted to come here for 1 season as a grad transfer, he doesn't want to hang around, rehab and spend another season in C-U. And I don't blame him.

Leron is a different case, he's going to be around for several years.

This is seared on their psyche even more than on ours. We were on a long losing streak and they were number 1. Even though this one is at their place, they haven't really trusted their team since Maui, and they realize we still think of Indy-Illini as a rival game even if they don't.
I don't think we can pull it off, but it sure would be nice if we did.

This will be a difficult game for us, no matter how many minutes Thorne might be able to play, but I think it has all the hallmarks of a trap game for Indiana. They have no particular reason to be "up" for this game, and if we are hitting our shots, we can certainly hang with them.

I wish i was drinking the same kool-aid you guys were. I'm not sure we're going to be in this one long term unless we shoot extremely well on the road.

Please let me be wrong, but this is probably a 13-15 point game.

I'm not looking forward to this one at all.
Indiana in 1st place in the B1G
Students first game back, first chance to yell.
We'll not able to keep fast players in front of us.

But I'll be watching anyway :)

Rivalry games are always hard to predict - we could win by 5 or lose by 15

Again, your 'eye test' will not bear better significance than statistics. So, feel free to provide statistics to prove your point, or your eye test is moot...

I'm with Soxfreak on this one. The team is much more complete w/ Khalid on the floor. Teams sag off Tate like no other clogging the offense up for the others. Tate pretty much can't shoot anything but a layup - which get's swatted half the time. Overall, Khalid is better on defense too. Khalid is not an ALL BIG PG. He's actually below average. But, he's still significantly better than Tate. But, it won't matter anyways. We will have to shoot over 50% from the field tonight to have a chance as our defense is poor and we have no desire to even try to get a offensive rebound.

On a side note, if Big Mike plays tonight, I bet you'll see him trying to rebound. It's in his blood. I doubt Groce can change him in 1 season. It might change the complexion of the game... especially if one more player can give him a little help. Better start in a 2-3 zone. IU is quick. I will be at the game

No matter how hard I look, I can't find a win here. Indiana is already high scoring with some quick and strong-shooting guards...I don't think our defense can hold up.

They've got Troy Williams and Thomas Bryant to rebound, we have a single-legged Mike Thorne.

The only place I see a clear advantage is turnovers. Indy, by 14. Hope I'm wrong.

My lineup, plus a few sub patterns:

1 - Tate starts and Lewis gets most of the time
2 - Nunn and JCL
3 - HILL! finally in the right position and JCL
4 - Finke, also in the right position and DJW
5 - Morgan starts and Thorne finishes

I see a whole lot of zone for this lineup. We are big underdogs, but this is definitely a trap game for them. They have no reason to get up for a 1-4 opponent. We do. We caught Maryland in a similar position last year. It's possible!

Sure would be nice to add another top 25 win on the resume. We'll see.

Welcome back Big Mike!! Good news, indeed!

And we actually have the early game tonight. Therefore, no angst over overtime!! Then, early to bed for a peaceful night's sleep.
Everything is in our favor so far.
