I meant state citizens in general. People in one area of Michigan don't have this intense hatred of another area just because of where they live ... I think we should honor our state's greatest figure Honest Abe and realize that a house divided cannot stand! I'll be the first to recognize Illinois has its problems, but most of that is our government being incompetent or corrupt over the years. This state has a lot going for it besides that (i.e., tons of potential), and if our own residents don't act like that then CERTAINLY no one else will!
Respectfully beg to differ. The disdain Michiganders (using that term in honor of Honest Abe) outside the metro area have for all things De-twah easily rivals the Chicago/rest of the state divisiveness. And Ann Arbor is held in a pretty dim light outside their little terrarium.

That makes sense him or maybe RJ starting in his place.. Size wise we match up to them and might be good to be able to have Dain and CHawk to sub for each other and not on the court at the same time to start
If nothing else not having them on floor together would cut down some of Hawkins’ terrible passes trying to get Dain the ball. Of late he seems to make at least one such I’ll-advised pass a game leading to a turnover.

That makes sense. People in densely populated urban areas have different needs and wants than those in rural areas. It's even different in the suburbs and exurbs. That is likely going to be just as true in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio as it is in Illinois. We tend to overlook our mutual interdependence.

Also, I took a trip down memory lane, and it looks like I am 6-5 all-time seeing the Illini in Iowa City (as a reminder, I lived there, lol...):

2003: Iowa 68, #8 Illinois 61 ... my first Illini game ever, was a huge bummer. I remember some fat Iowa fan behind me screaming "WE NEVER TRAILED!" as the buzzer sounded. :(
2004: #23 Illinois 78, Iowa 59 ... Krush invaded and we whooped 'em!
2005: d#1 Illinois 75, Iowa 65 ... was close for a while, but we pulled away in spectacularly exciting fashion late. Krush invaded again AND over 5k to 6k other Illini fans made it a neutral court. Krush did a conga line around the top concourse after the win. :ROFLMAO: One of my best sports memories!
2006: Iowa 63, #6 Illinois 48 ... this was my true "back to Earth" moment after the 2005 season ... we got embarrassed and looked like crap.
2008: Illinois 58, Iowa 47 ... I remember thinking it was hilarious that we won at Iowa, given how bad we were this year. Small silver lining of bragging rights with my friends!
2010: Illinois 57, Iowa 49 ... absolute DEPTHS of the Lickliter years, and the Krush sat DIRECTLY behind one of the hoops because it was so empty. :ROFLMAO: There are some videos of this on YouTube, FYI.
2011: #23 Illinois 87, Iowa 77 ... this was just before the New Year, and IIRC we lit it up shooting. I actually was still really high on this team (ended up a 9-seed...) at this point, and it was fun watching this one in front of what was once again a good Illini showing (probably 2k to 3k).
2013: Iowa 63, Illinois 55 ... I remember this being SO frustrating. It kind of killed our late season momentum we had gotten from beating #1 Indiana.
2015: Iowa 68, Illinois 60 ... yet another Krush roadtrip, but we lost this one in truce Groceball fashion.
2017: Illinois 70, Iowa 66 ... don't remember much from this one other than Malcom Hill icing it with some late free throws!
2019: #23 Iowa 83, Illinois 62 ... this one felt worse than the score. Utterly destroyed.

Hoping to get back in the W column tomorrow!

Forgive me if this made it here already; I only skimmed the pages I missed.

A colleague of mine is an Iowa grad and we have a friendly rivalry. He shared that a friend of his in Iowa City is claiming that Iowa fans are planning an orange out to make fun of Krush not getting in.

Seems silly to me, but there's a reason we call them Idiots Out Walking Around

I was born and raised in Illinois, educated and learned my values in Illinois, lived my life and made my living in Illinois up to this point and will likely die and be disposed of in Illinois. For all those reason's I cannot put any stock in anything Bernstein says. He's a hater and an all around a-hole. Bernstein is a typical dookie through and through and has a very long history of Illini hatred. It has been apparent for a long time now that it's nearly impossible to be a loyal Illinois supporter and a dookie Bernstein fan at the same time. As far as his partner is concerned I haven't wasted any time listening to the radio station since he's been employed by them to know what sort of person he is but if he's hooked up with Bernstein he can't be all that virtuous.

I have been told it is a stripe the stadium game (black / gold / black), so I'm not sure the above is correct. And I am hoping to be a bright orange pimple on Iowa's !!! tomorrow.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but Iowa has not sold a game out all year ... and they really only came close for their game vs. Iowa State. Considering it's a Saturday (easy for out of town travel) and the elevated prices of this game (similar to NU's ONE expensive game being vs. Illinois), I think there will be a pretty good chunk of orange in that arena. Given the last few years we have had and the fact that we were pretty hyped early on in the season, I am guessing a ton of Illini fans in the Quad Cities area and places like that bought these tickets as soon as they went on sale.

Hoping their stripe out is a joke and has specks of orange all over it, lol.

Dang, you missed one of the more memorable games of recent memory. 2014 when Ekey nailed a buzzer beater!

wasn't the 2006 loss to Iowa out "back to earth moment?"

I know, haha, I was in Iowa City but did not attend. Watched it at a bar with my friends, and the ENTIRE place went silent when he hit that shot ... except for me, of course!

Yes, we were 15-0, ranked #6 and had just handily beaten #7 Michigan State at home a few days before. I believe at that point we had won 64 of our last 67 games, including 28 of our last 30 Big Ten games. We were LITERALLY on top of the world. I recall seeing a TV special where Iowa said it fired them up that (1) last year there were thousands of Illini fans and the Krush in their arena and (2) Dee Brown led our guys in a "Our House on 3. 1-2-3, OUR HOUSE!" coming out of the tunnel this year. We got taken to school. :(
