Yeah. Normally I'd applaud a strident, almost defiant attitude in this kind of situation, which in this case would be something like flaunting TSJ's presence all up in the MFer. Granted, that would be in poor taste for many people, and unlikely. But still, I'm glad he's 100% doing his talking on the court.

Agent 0 gets 30.

We win it by 11.

This back to back road kill is going to mean a lot to these guys… Shut up Reese & Maryland…& revenge in University Park… These guys want to make a statement on this trip. I know TJ, Brad & Coleman have had February 21st marked on their calendar for a long time ….

Not of ALL TIME............

Best win over Maryland ever = 1984 NCAA Sweet Sixteen at Rupp Arena, defeating Len Bias and the #11 Terps 72-70. This was the game just before the heartbreaking loss to (Dickey Beal and) #1 ranked Kentucky on their home court.

No. We're 7-15 overall and 1-7 in College Park. Weber is the only Illini coach in the history of the program to win there. He's also the only Illini coach to not have a losing record against Maryland since Lou.

I was at that game, 11/29/2011 (the year of the imfamous late season collapse). From what I remeber Illinois was coming in undefeated and MD was not so good. It was pretty close throughout but Illinois pulled away late to win by 9. Just checked the box score and Illinois' leading scorer was Sam Maniscalco with 28 off a red hot 5-8 from 3. Brandon Paul had 17 and Meyers Leonard with 12

We need a twofer on this trip if we want to establish ourselves as a legit top ten team. It's highly unlikely we shoot like we did last night, so we fasten down the defense and avoid turnovers. We better come with energy and intensity in both games. We are better than the Terps and PSU, but that doesn't mean they can't beat us; Maryland has already beaten us once. And since I don't get to watch on Peacock, so how the hell did Michigan get to shoot twice as many free throws as we did?

That heartbreaking loss on Kentucky's home court, wasn't that the game that Winters played with a severely sprained ankle and could hardly even move?

going 2-2 in our remaining road games would give me a better feeling about this team going into the tournament. Can we exorcize our Terrapin demons and start off this back-to-back road stretch with a W?

To be a real tourney threat a team must show it can beat opponents under less than ideal conditions. It's fun to watch a beatdown of a crappy ScUM team at home but we won't be facing any crappy teams at home in March. Beat MD and PSU on the road and start showing readiness for the road ahead.

Starters played all but 20 minutes. I like the fact that our best players played. I hope all of the people that talk about "how tired" guys are for playing 34-35 minutes can see this box score!

also would be WILD to have a backcourt with one player suing the university of Illinois and the other suing the NCAA during the same season.

They have a top 10 defense and are sub 300 in tempo. Can we win a game in the 60s?

I actually rewatched the game expecting to see Coleman get dominated by Reese but he actually mostly held his own and forced some tough shots.

Biggest key is figuring out a way to contain their 2 man game and making Young inefficient. Really going to come down to how much bite TJ has on defense.

And although there’s a big drop off, I would like to see about 10 minutes of Dain. Reese is so physical down low, we need to try and save fouls on Coleman and just give him a break. It’s got to be exhausting for him to fight down there all game.

Dominated might be a bit strong, but Reese certainly got the better of Hawkins: https://fightingillini.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2023-24/maryland/boxscore/25452

This will be a better test of our defense being on the road in a place we struggle to win at recently. If our D can lock in well enough there, I'll feel a bit better heading into our next stretch of games. Hard to tell yesterday if the D was truly better or if Michigan is just awful, or maybe both
