What if Da Coach played all 5 positions by himself for 40 minutes Friday night?
Coach would go for a quadruple double, and be defensive player of game and win 199-1. Cheap foul at the end and the huskers get a bunny at the line.
Da wow wows.

I shared this post with my wife and having lived in Scottsbluff for a few years, she completely agrees with this post
:). Beautiful, high-plains landscape and some fine mountain biking terrain, though.

Going by KenPom ratings, it's been so long since Illinois played a team rated as low as Nebraska, that team stopped playing basketball this season (Chicago State).

Of course, Ohio is just a hint better rated than Nebraska, and the Illini didn't exactly roll Ohio.

OTOH the boys were still learning to play together in late November. And Nebraska is more than a hint worse than Ohio. They're 128 v. OU's 109 and the delta in their scores is material. Also 167 in offense v/OU's 54. And they're rusty. N'western is 71 overall on KenPom and you saw what we did to them when we finally showed up to the arena at halftime.

Frankly, I wish we weren't playing Nebraska and could have scheduled MSU instead. Nothing much good, beyond a win, can come of playing a team so far in the cellar and out of game condition. IMO.

Still need to notch W's to inch that percentage up if you care about B!G title. I personally do not care, but I know the players do.

No argument. I'm delighted that we're playing on Friday instead of lying fallow until N'western. And I'm not interested in making the best the enemy of the good. One more BT win is what we need, regardless of the source.

I watched Ohio play a week or two ago. Jason Preston is really good. Not just against us. It looks very likely he will play in the NBA. (Projected mid-second round) He pretty much single handedly took us to the limit.

I don't think Nebraska has a NBA type guy.

Nope. Teddy Allen has the talent, not the mental makeup. He'll play in the G league maybe. The rest of the team is JAGs. They work hard, but between their pause and Hoiberg, it's bad. Stay disciplined on D, outwork them on the boards, and we'll be OK.

Allen is a good player. Will probably make a nice living playing somewhere, I just doubt it will be in the NBA.

Really? He has some skills but makes way too many boneheaded plays and his shot is pretty ugly TBH.

Watch the NB game last night. In the second half they couldn't hit the broad side of the barn standing in front of it. Kofi will dominate the post. NB doesn't have a guy that can bang with him. Just have to keep him out of foul trouble. The gym looks real big without fans. Wisc played a hawking def against them and took them out of their game.

I thought Nebby had a great start. I feel like they ran out of gas. No legs in their shots as many hit the front of the rim.
I don't think Wisconsin is that good. I'm just a guy, but they suck.

Since this squad has really turned into the #StreakBusters over the past two seasons, we shamefully have a two-game losing streak at Nebraska and are only 4-5 there all-time. Since they joined the Big Ten for the 2012 season, we are only 2-5 in Lincoln:

2012: L 80-57 😷 (pretty much the nail in Weber's coffin)
2013: W 71-51 (our lone win in a 1-5 stretch before beating #1 Indiana!)
2014: L 67-58
2015: L 53-43
2017: W 73-57
2018: L 64-63 (that buzzer beater...)
2019: L 75-60

I know we've been down, but I never would have guessed it was that bad at Nebraska, lol. I suppose the good news is that the one year we had a semi-decent team (2013), we won in a blowout. Let's go out and simply play our game with toughness, and this should be a comfortable win! I would love to see these guys just continue to gel and gain confidence. I am a FAN, so I can look ahead and boy do I want to be playing our best ball for that season finale matchup with OSU. Not only do I want revenge, but it might decide the Big Ten title...

I know the players aren't looking that far ahead, though, and I hope they come out laser-focused to keep the winning streak going. If we play like we did against Wisconsin, this one will be over by halftime.
