Hey, any of you guys coming to Lincoln this weekend? I can share some thoughts of places you might want to check out if you are interested.

Part of me wonders if he thinks his game is suited for the NFL and he doesn't want to get hurt and ruin his chances of a pro career. Of course, no NFL team will play him if he can't deliver throws from the pocket.

I'm sure Lunt has NFL aspirations, and I do think he has an NFL arm. But I don't think you can be that slow and un-athletic in today's game and survive at qb.

It's the rest of him that will keep that from being a reality. I wish it weren't so.

We were coming, then my buddy, whose house has been for sale for 18 months, sells his house and is moving this weekend. Just my luck.

To my eyes, that's a lot of heat on Lunt.

Wes Lunt is a stud.

Heck it wasn't long ago that Lunt was named the first starting freshman QB in the History of Oklahoma State Football 1950-1993 depending on the records. It did not last long only played 6 games started 5 of them with 6 Touchdowns and 7 Picks,

I know deep down so goes Lunt so goes the Illini - I have not given up hope on one of the best players on the team. To have him be more assertive is an area that would probably result in injury.

Pure pocket passer with no protection we all see that. This game coming up with the Corn Huskers has me deeply concerned to keep this within 28 points.

I attended a game at Nebraska a few years ago. Great game day and stadium atmosphere! Ate at a place called Honest Abe's. I highly recommend it. Great burgers! Valentino's pizza is pretty good too and they serve it by the slice at the stadium. I enjoyed interacting with the Husker fans at some of the tailgates before the game. Good people and rabid fans .

That is awesome! Glad you had fun!

I made it to the game in Illinois last year and it was great. The Illini fans were fantastic, bars were a blast and the GG is going to be awesome!

I know I'm one of the more optimistic and potentially unrealistic fans on this site, but if the line is -21, I think the Illini cover.

Reasons:
1) UNC and WMU are both really good teams with really good coaches and players that have played in the same system for 4+ years. Our guys were in games #2 and #3.

2) Nebraska has some key injuries, youth on the D line and are only in Riley's second season.

3) Our O-line has been banged up from the outset. We haven't had our starting offensive line on the field except for maybe the beginning of the UNC game.

3) The bye week. Gave our guys a chance to get healthy, get more comfortable in our offensive and defensive system. Gave the coaches some time to figure out things too.

4) Seniors. We have a lot of them and the more comfortable they become in the system, the better they will be. Our D-line is better than what they have shown thus far. If they step up, the entire defense will improve drastically.

I'm not predicting a win for the Illini,Tommy Armstrong is too mobile, but a cover is in the cards which is improvement that we can take into the crucial Purdue/Rutgers must win games.

Go Illini!

Send me a double of what you are drinking, GameofThrows? Thanks. :)

I'm hoping we see a lot closer game than anticipated. It all starts with Lunt. If he comes out with passion, maybe we'll have a good game.

I generally stick more to the basketball related threads, but I really like Lovie as a coach. His credentials aside, he seems to be a coach guys would want to play for. Soft spoken, open minded, and he has this quiet sense of humor about him.

Here's to hoping for another upset against Nebraska.

I'm all in with you on this... I've not witnessed much to be happy with on the gridiron for over 20 years - with minor one year blips... So I'm a nearly 99% basketball guy.
I admit that I didn't know who Lovie was when we hired him.... I don't follow the NFL, nor PRO sports in general.... Lots of money paid to guys who make WAY too many mistakes with no consequences to their pay...

However, I have read up on Lovie, and have watched all his pressers at UI so far, and am happy to say I am really impressed. My hope is that we can keep him here, and support him here long enough for him to get Illinois FB established as a winning program. Not just a 1 year blip on the radar....

Go Lovie... Go Illini...

Picking a cover or not is by definition a 50/50 proposition, I don't think that's crazy optimism.

I got the spook based on the performance, not the result, of the WMU game though. If our control of the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball is going to continue like that, look out below. Here's hoping a bye week has brought some improvements.

This has been a week full of distractions for Nebraska some hopefully their prep hasn't been sharp

We just do not have the Horses to cover this game- wish it was not true

We could cover. I don't think we can win, but the bye week is a big advantage. Our inability to stop the run would not allow me to bet Illinois however.

Vegas bakes in the bye week. Lots of studies/analysis been done about the impact of a bye week on performance. It results in about 2-3 points against the spread in enhanced performance.

So I don't think a bye week can be considered too big of an advantage. Basically going on the road neutralizes the benefit.

Then the line should be higher, put your money where your mouth is!

I think my prediction is something like Nebraska 35 Illinois 13. But I'm very uncertain about both of these teams.

Nebraska might, MIGHT, be a good bit worse than WMU. If that's the case we'll probably cover.

I could see a score like that. I could see Illinois getting to the edge a lot, the Huskers don't have great ends at all.

Won't shock me at all if this game is around 14 points.

There isn't much that could happen in this game that would surprise me. I can make a case for us losing by 10 and I could make a case for us losing by 35. The line sounds about right to me.

The big issue of course is Lunt. Or more specifically, the Husker pass rush. If they get to him a couple times early we'll probably lose big. If he gets comfortable, we can keep it close.

Should be a lot of fun. Great weather and hopefully a lot of Illini fans make it!

If you do check out "O" Street for the main strip of bars. Hit up Sandy's, The Rail, Brothers, The Bar The Bar (Total Dive), Embassy Suites and 12th Street Pub.

If you want to hit up the new area check out the Rail Yard. It gets crazy packed and you can walk around with your beers out.

I'll be watching this one in Badgerland on a much needed vacation. I'm just looking for a sign of improvement. I'm getting over walking pneumonia, so I'll probably watch it at the cabin, but if I feel better we'll probably watch it at a bar (AKA, Illini please don't embarrass me!!!!).

Random question

I'm posting this here since I'm a new user and can't create a new thread.

Anyway, I visited Champaign, IL, last year for the Illini/Husker game. I usually buy game programs for all the games I attend, but for some reason it slipped my mind that day.

Does anyone have an extra program for that game (Oct. 3, 2015) that they would be willing to sell me? I tried searching eBay, but I had no luck there.

There is a source either at the stadium or in the athletic department that may have the old programs. I bought one once. Can't remember exactly but maybe Media Publications office?
