Nebraska rush defense is the worst in the Big Ten. Even worse than Northwestern. They have yet to play any of the top 6 rushing offenses in the Big. Nebraska may pick up a few big plays on the Illinois D but this game should not be close, IMO.
only concerns for me are that the huskers are also coming off a bye week.

Some Husker fans are seriously delusional.

In the thread linked above, there are fans suggesting they should poach Bielema from us just to use him as a stepping stone to a better coach that can help them become national contenders again. Well, tune in next week and see what this "stepping-stone" coach does on national TV.

In fairness, there were less than 5 fans that said that and the vast majority were very complimentary of Bielema.

To take a phrase from the youth, the amount of copium being consumed in that thread is ridiculous.

That Champaign Room piece is a breath of fresh air after years of downers. However, the Pulp Fiction reference to Winston Wolf:

Coach Bret Bielema is like The Wolf from the 1994 film Pulp Fiction. He came to Illinois with a job in mind. Speed and efficiency were the expectations of a hungry fanbase. And Coach B delivered on that promise even faster than the astronomical expectations speculated that he would.

reminds me of the Wolf's admonition to Jules and Vincent after they clean up a certain mess in the interior of their car resulting from an accidentally discharged gun, and their colleague Jimmie is admiring the thoroughness of the job. I'd embed the video but the moderators might ban me. The quote I'm thinking of begins "Well, let's not start..." Basically "we're not out of the woods quite yet." This entire clip on YouTube is a perfect metaphor for what Bret and his staff inherited and have accomplished so far

I'm keeping his caution in mind because, as a longtime Illini football fan, while I do believe things are different this time, we've still got five regular season games left. I take nothing for granted. But I do believe we'll beat Michigan. ;)
My Wolf, I just want to tell you it was a real pleasure watching you work.

I thought that was a pretty good listen. His suggestion that one way to attack our D is by passing to the TEs makes me nervous.
that's much easier said than done imo. After having watched our defense all season (whether it be breaking up passes, intercepting anything that comes their way or just flat out knocking the living snot out of the opposing offensive players) I am very confident our Defense will be up for the task.

Should be fun watching Nebraska fans get a first hand account of this Illinois team turn their cornhuskers into road kill as they watch helplessly in their goofy corn on the comb get ups.

Interesting take /s

They seem to be hanging thier hope on our Indiana loss. We are nearly a different team than that early game. This team is getting in-the-job experience and is growing up before our eyes.

Has anyone ever driven through Nebraska? Please do not give their fans any credit for brain power. On paper this game should not be close, but that's why we play the games. Stick to the game plan, avoid silly penalties and turnovers, and the Illini will take care of business.

I have driven through Nebraska more than a few times. Believe me when I say that is the only thing in Nebraska that is entertaining.

Omaha is decent(like visiting zoos whenever theres a good one around) but that's about it.

Unless we're extremely careless with the ball, we're taking Nebraska to the woodshed.
Agree 100%.

Others have probably already thrown out some numbers.............but I'm just now starting to wonder about the spread. I peeked at the season-to-date offensive/defensive stats for both squads. Our DEFENSE is certainly the big story in this game, but the Huskers get a huge advantage for the home field/crowd. Then again, we've had recent success in hostile venues.

Wild guess: ILLINI -5.5

As fans, we are allowed to go crazy and look at the big picture. I would guarantee that the coaches and players ONLY have Nebraska on their minds. I have faith in this group. Man it's good to have this much excitement in late October. Nebraska is going to get a fresh dose of the Chase Brown/Josh McCray express. And Nebraska hasn't seen the likes of our Defense yet.
