I watched Nebraska last week. Yes we should beat them playing better with a different coach and do have some speed. I think many fans are over looking the challenge they bring us on the road. I know Coach B isn't. Let's play and win one game at a time. Let's not get too cocky. If the team follows this pattern they will end up in a good bowl game.

My experience with Nebraska fans has always been positive.
As people they're nice. As fans they're kind of insufferable with the GBR (Go big red) and Blackshirt nonsense. My experience is that a Nebraska fan will let you know within 5 minutes of meeting them, even if football, alumni status, etc. never comes up.

That Champaign Room piece is a breath of fresh air after years of downers. However, the Pulp Fiction reference to Winston Wolf:

Coach Bret Bielema is like The Wolf from the 1994 film Pulp Fiction. He came to Illinois with a job in mind. Speed and efficiency were the expectations of a hungry fanbase. And Coach B delivered on that promise even faster than the astronomical expectations speculated that he would.

reminds me of the Wolf's admonition to Jules and Vincent after they clean up a certain mess in the interior of their car resulting from an accidentally discharged gun, and their colleague Jimmie is admiring the thoroughness of the job. I'd embed the video but the moderators might ban me. The quote I'm thinking of begins "Well, let's not start..." Basically "we're not out of the woods quite yet." This entire clip on YouTube is a perfect metaphor for what Bret and his staff inherited and have accomplished so far

I'm keeping his caution in mind because, as a longtime Illini football fan, while I do believe things are different this time, we've still got five regular season games left. I take nothing for granted. But I do believe we'll beat Michigan. ;)

That Champaign Room article might be the best thing I've ever read in my entire life. I'm guzzling orange kool aid now.

As I have mentioned before, I lived in Iowa City for many years and most of my friends are Hawkeyes fans (including one who lives in Omaha...), so I have developed a bit more of a dislike for Nebraska fans and their cockiness than most. With that said, it has been kind of hilarious being back (in Iowa City) for Thanksgiving every year and seeing Iowa just utterly dominate the recent series with Nebraska, driving Nebby's fans insane :ROFLMAO:. The thought of the Fighting Illini winning three straight vs. Nebraska and two straight in Lincoln is absolutely awesome ... and the fact that we will be nationally ranked playing at 2:30 pm on ABC or ESPN would make a beatdown so much sweeter.

Let's do this!

that was a great article. Appreciate the link. Loved the Pulp Fiction & the Wire references and I definitely agree with the author's last line. "...just enjoy the ride"

Hell yes I will. Been way too damn long since we've been able to say that.

Someone please find that GIF of the weeping Nebraska-fan child in the stands at Folsom Field in 2001 when Colorado beat the living he!! out them 62-36. It was shock and awe worthy of Conan the Barbarian.

In my experience, the average Nebraska fan is approximately 1000x less obnoxious, less cocky and nicer than the average Iowa fan.

Obviously, my experience is quite different, haha. I feel like Nebraska fans are nice in person (from what I have heard), but their online fan base is really elitist and delusional and kind of nasty.

If you assume that they're going to lose to Michigan, this game represents Nebraska's best chance to have a "big" win. I'm thinking they'll be particularly pumped for it.

Also, you have to figure that this is a good week for a new coach to bring in some new things that he didn't have time to prepare for in other weeks. So I expect we'll see some things from them that we haven't yet this season.
