(assuming Mast plays) Z will be out on the perimeter quite often, not waiting at the rim

Just one of the things that makes them (and us, for that matter) so difficult to defend
Not necessarily if we're zoning...

Shouldn’t be much zone vs Nebraska. Like us, they are a team designed around floor spacing and high post playmaking. Zone is going to be too high-risk if Sandfort and Mast are both playing, because you’re going to be giving them a lot of open looks from 3.

This is a tough matchup for us, as it's really hard to cheat off anyone due to their shooting prowess. Need to do our best to take Sandfort away. I've seen him do what he did to us in multiple games since. Make someone else beat you.

Going to need some bounces and calls to go our way in this one.

Since the Big Ten started scheduling a couple games in early December how have we done in rematches where we lost the December game?

Thinking about this game, it's perhaps the biggest regular season game in Nebraska basketball history. MSU in Lincoln earlier in the month probably was at the time but this one is now bigger. It will be a great thing to knock them off and go home with two consecutive mammoth road wins.

No one else is undefeated on the road in the BT. To get to February in any season and be able to claim that honor is huge.

Wagler states that he thinks the team is more connected, especially on defense. I would love to believe that every poster here can see and understand that...but based on some comments we know that is not true.

Yet, based on the results displayed in the past month, it is plainly evident. KW's statement is a bit understated as the team unity, performance, and effectiveness are a huge and needed step up from early season losses we saw against worthy opponents. Every player has made strides in their defensive efforts....and especially on offense where we are seeing quicker ball movement so sorely needed but missing in past Underwood teams. Personally for my two cents the movement forward on both ends through hard work and good coaching has led to more trust and unity which is the fire that tempers the recent results.

A few guys have mentioned zoning Nebraska. Last game when we did, Mast ran to the FT line area, caught a pass, then one of 3 things happened.
1) He drove to the rim depending on the defense.
2) He made a 10' jumper, depending on the defense.
3) Someone or 2 collapsed on him. He passed out to the open man for a 3 pointer.

I was hoping that our offensive coach was taking notes.

I fear for Nebraska when Brad breaks out the evil twin Big Z. That mask is terrifying. ;)

Michigan is undefeated on the road.

You were hoping the guy running the #1 offense could recognize a drive versus mid-range or kick out?

Only thing I want to see is us running them off the 3 point line. Force them to beat us off the dribble. And make open shots
Yeah, that's all it should take. But that's a pretty big trio of events. It's perhaps a smaller nuance that governs the final outcome. Tom Izzo felt he got horrible officiating in the first half last night in his own gym (and he commented on that at half time according to the Fox sideline reporter for the game--not on a live camera). Big Ten officials have been pretty even handed from what I've watched this year, so I like our chances as the road team.

Has Tom Izzo ever thought he got a good whistle?

I remember us getting killed in the second half on the overplay and back screens . . . lots of easy shots. Need to clean that up.

So, in other words, Nebby all good to go and at full strength. Gotcha.
Still think likely not having full practices and guys away is an advantage.

Feel every year we’ve had a Brad presser after a loss saying that half the guys didn’t practice for a week with illness and couldn’t do any 5v5 stuff.

Looks like these started in 2017/18 season so...

Here's the answer:
-2018/19 season: Won at home against Nebraska 71-64 and won at Ohio State 63-56. We lost to both in December though the Ohio State game was at the UC.
-2019/20 season: Lost at home against Maryland 75-66. Lost at Maryland in December 59-58.
-2022/23 season: Lost at Penn State 93-81. Lost at home to Penn State in December 74-59.
-2024/25 season: Won at home vs. Northwestern 83-74. Lost at Northwestern in OT in December 70-66.

So overall 3-2 since it has happened.

I chose to skip over the 2020/21 season since the scheduling that season was so off kilter.
