I hope we use Belo like we did last year. Come off the bench and play 20 minutes a game. He will provide a spark and give Trent a break at times and move Trent off the ball at other times. We need another guy to spell all 4 starting guards. The freshmen will get less time but that is ok.
. If Belo can't start playing in the next couple of weeks, does a redshirt become more likely?

Warren Nolan is very high on Illinois to finish the season strong. They're projecting a 17 point win at Nebraska and our only conference loss for the remainder of the year to be at Purdue by 5 points. Their model has Illinois finishing at #10 RPI. I'll take it.

I kinda doubt idiots out walking around go 15-1 for the remainder of the B1G , but I agree I'll take the Illini projection........

Illini Farmer beat me by only 33 minutes.....................lol

I saw that he was “medically” cleared last week and now it’s about getting him into game shape. Based on that, I assume he’ll be back in the next 2-3 games.

I have never heard of Warren Nolan, but they put us at 19-1, Iowa at 16-4, Northwestern at 10-10 & Michigan at 5-15.

I can't buy any of those results. Heck, I am not sure I even buy Michigan playing 20 league games.
Maybe that Fichigan number includes forfeits (like Warren would ever hang a forfeit on Fichigan)

Has anyone ever proposed treating unplayed games as ties? That seems at least somewhat fair to both teams.

Give Michigan three ties for their three missed games last year and they finish 15.5 and 4.5, or a half game behind the Beloved. Is that fair?

They will only play BIG games against teams in the bottom half!

We go 19-1 in the B1G and 26-4 overall and we are a 1 seed in the tourney pretty much regardless of how we do in the conference tourney. I would love to see it, but it's hard not to expect another off-night or two somewhere down the line. Either way, a conference title is there for the taking.

Michigan has an unfortunate 3-game stretch against MSU, Purdue and Illinois. I have a hunch they'll be back strong as ever and ready to play again once they've skipped those three!

No. That would hurt the better team. Not sure what the Big Ten will do with uneven games

Awarding a half point for unplayed games would hurt teams above 500, but it would also thereby encourage those teams to play all of their games. It would have cost Michigan the title if their three missed games were scored at 500 rather than not at all.

Really cannot afford to trip up here, as Nebraska is the only TRULY awful potential loss left on our schedule (though Maryland and Rutgers are both over 100 in the NET). Though many point out we do not have a "signature win" yet, our results thus far have put together a decent resume:

W vs. #263 Jackson State
W vs. #142 Arkansas State
L at #44 Marquette
L vs. #63 Cincinnati (Kansas City, MO)
W vs. #87 Kansas State (Kansas City, MO)
W vs. #278 UT-Rio Grande Valley
W vs. #86 Notre Dame
W vs. #116 Rutgers
W at #27 Iowa
L vs. #2 Arizona
W vs. #321 Saint Francis (PA)
W vs. #199 Missouri
W at #56 Minnesota
W vs. #112 Maryland

So, we are 11-3 (4-0), with the following resume points:
- #10 in the NET rankings
- 2-1 on the road and 2-1 in neutral court games
- 2 Quad 1 wins, 1 Quad 2 win, 5 Quad 3 wins and 3 Quad 4 wins
- 0 Quad 3 or Quad 4 losses

Nebraska would be a very bad loss, not to mention a missed opportunity to capitalize on early losses from Purdue as we fight for a Big Ten championship. Here is the schedule the rest of the way, and the opportunities we have!

at #219 Nebraska (Q3)
vs. #52 Michigan (Q2)
vs. #9 Purdue (Q1)
at #112 Maryland (Q2)
vs. #14 Michigan State (Q1)
at #68 Northwestern (Q1)
vs. #24 Wisconsin (Q1)
at #36 Indiana (Q1)
at #9 Purdue (Q1)
vs. #68 Northwestern (Q2)
at #116 Rutgers (Q2)
at #14 Michigan State (Q1)
vs. #26 Ohio State (Q1)
at #52 Michigan (Q1)
vs. #88 Penn State (Q3)
vs. #27 Iowa (Q1)

So, at Nebraska and vs. Penn State are the only opportunities (as of now) for a "bad" Quad 3 loss on our schedule left ... cannot afford to stumble! Plenty of opportunities for resume-defining wins ahead, let's stay focused and keep rollin'!

I’ll be surprised if we’re higher than 23rd tomorrow. But two wins this week and we’ll be set up with the chance to start 7-0 in conference against Purdue as well as prove we are a top 10 team. I’ve been fantasizing about it all day 😅

Regarding Curbelo, based on what Brad said on the Saturday Sportstalk show, I would guess it's unlikely that he plays against Nebraska. Brad said it's now a matter of conditioning, and getting Curbelo back into game shape to the point where he doesn't risk an injury (presumably due to lack of conditioning) or suffer a setback of his head/neck problems.

For those in the know and who've actually played basketball at a high level, how long does it normally take to get back into game-level conditioning after having sat out as long as Curbelo has?
