Our worst look for our biggest game, oh well. Someone on this staff is clearly convinced that is this really cool combo for some reason, lol. A win would make it worth it!
I know someone pointed it out in the uniform thread but being the combo worn in Columbus in 2007 could’ve played a role.

This map and the analysis of it on this board makes no sense. Am I really to believe that with the Bourbon Trail and all of the Buffalo Trace consumed by members of this forum that Kentucky is really that light? I don't think so.
Given the state of academic public health research I, too, cocked an eyebrow at certain elements of that map.

Looks like the rain will wait until about 6 PM as is mandated by Autzen Stadium (No rain during games). Of course, Oregonians may have a different definition of "rain" than someone from Illinois. We have heavy fog that can get you wet, mist that makes you dry your glasses, rain that doesn't really get you wet, sideways rain (stay indoors), wet rain (what we consider "real rain"). I probably missed a few...
That heavy fog and mist is quintessential Oregon weather to me. Have very fond memories of walking through the quad at Oregon St in that type of weather. One gets used to it (and the rain that doesn’t really get you wet) and much preferable to me during the winter than Illinois’ -10 degrees.

There ya go…that eloquently sums up this fun but goofy debate. Yet, it’s got me wound up still. 😂 So I’m gonna blather on about it anyway…

1. In Homer Simpson vernacular…Illinois Jr. (Wisconsin) simply outshines California Jr.(Oregon)…We’re talking about an entire vast kingdom devoted to little else but beer and cheese!!
Bring it…

2. Midwest ingenuity: How Dunkin’ fFphrunk would you have to be to invent a game called “cornhole”?

3. Sure you’re got your hard drinking goonbah logger types and your microbrew loving Indie Rockers types and plenty in between…but give me a break…the Midwest is the original beer swilling wasteland. We got enough infinite generational German and Scotch-Irish heritage farm fans and pissed-off out of work auto-mechanics in Southern Illinois alone, to counter anything you’ve got. AND that’s just downstate…To say nothing of flipping Chicago: Greeks, Italians, Polish, Irish, Russians…etc…etc…etc…really…bring it!!

4. Ever hear of St. Louis and Milwaukee? What part of the country are they in? There are several reasons for that…but it’s more than just a coincidence, fella.
Just for the fun of it, The Simpson have an Oregon connection. Springfield is named after Springfield OR, also, Burnside, Lovejoy, Quimby, Flanders and Terwilleger are all Portland streets. And Matt Groening creator of the Simpsons is a graduate of Lincoln HS in Portland.

Yea, I get it, I grew up in Albany and I spent a very chilly fall/winter in Champaign Urbana (actually Rantoul/Chanute AFB) in 1966/67. I swear the wind always blows in your face no matter which direction you are going in Rantoul in January.

True. And who can forget that Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine.

Seems that every culture around the world figured out how to ferment something and get trashed. Grapes, honey, grains, agave...

As the old saying goes, "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
Because dysentary was a big thing. Drinking a weak beer or wine was a helluva lot safer than a glass of water. There's a reason the British rationed six pints of beer a day back in the day and not six bottles of water. Safe drinking water is one of the biggest things we take for granted every day. And that's why I drink beer at tailgates every weekend. Safety first.

I prefer redneck golf, or "ladder golf", over cornholio

We are really, really.....really....lucky to have Luke still upright this season.

For the love of Galloping Ghost's.....please fix our OLine.

Unpopular opinion but I think a significant portion of those sacks would have been avoided if Luke could make quicker decisions. I believe his avg time of release is something north of 2.76 seconds?

Here’s the thing: I think Luke’s decision making improved a bunch during that Purdue game. Seemed like the last 10 minutes or so something clicked. Started scrambling with purpose rather than buying time for the sake of it. Then, during Michigan game, OL looked real effing good. If those two things come together here we’ve got the offense unlocked.

Thank goodness for global warming. I grew up outside Rantoul and its much more calm these days. 😅🤣

That’s pretty cool. Interesting. I never knew that.

I knew plenty of people here, years ago (that thought/wanted to think it was Illinois …pointing to the inclusion of Shelbyville and other supposed ties that Groening had to this area. But I guess they were dead wrong. Lol

PS: Sorry about my silly rant…just a goof.
I’ve come to realize I just don’t dislike Oregon that much…at least YET. 😂
I guess I’ve got a few hours before game time. Lol (Big Dana Altman Fan)

Dana's had a pretty tough time the last 3 years.... injuries, injuries, injuries. Looks like he's got a pretty healthy squad so far this year. We could use a little more depth inside (my opinion). Could be a good year for the Ducks.

I got to meet him and chat a bit a few years ago and got a personal tour of the facilities. My niece's husband coaches/trains bball players in the San Diego area and the Ducks were recruiting one of his kids. My niece, husband and their child came for a visit and to meet the Ducks coaching staff we all got to go on the visit. Watched a workout for one of the Ducks at the MATT, Dana came down and chatted with us for a while, very down to earth guy, liked him. I played small college bball decades ago so it was a lot of fun for me.

Wish the Illinois fans a great visit and a good time up until kickoff.... :)

Just noticed that poor Luke has been sacked 20x, which looks like most in B10. For the love of the Galloping Ghost, throw ball away faster. Oline, don't let your boy get crunched.

I've seen enough of Jacas and Pat Bryant to believe they have bright NFL futures. I hope they both bring it against the Ducks.

Welcome to game day, where our daydreaming meets reality. I give us a puncher's chance. Continue to get turnovers and continue to hold on to the ball. Simple. If we can stay in it, we have a QB and kickers that we can rely on in crunch time. And here's the thing, this is Illinois football. If you told me before the season started we'd get a shot against number one and it wouldn't be absolutely crazy if we won, I'd take that. Well, here we are. It wouldn't be crazy. We did the job last week and won the game that had to be won. Now, let's give the supposed best team in the country all they can handle. Big stage. Big opportunity. These chances don't come around too often. It's time to show the college football world that Illinois matters.
