Right there with you. I'll cop to drinking nothing else. Ain't nobody got time for that.
There's not a damn thing wrong with drinking microbrews, except in a tweet that's mocking quantity.

I live about a half hour from the state line, and travel into Wisconsin many times a year. 90% of the time it's for cheap gas and this:

Now, now. Coach Zupp is feeling appropriately fine this week since he predicted in August we'd be 6-1 and got savagely dogpiled for it. He's allowed artistic license advocating for the all-whites. ;)

Speaking of which, the initial response to IowaHawk's tweet below is: "The preferred beer for Oregonians is meth" (apologies to our Illini brethren residing in The Beaver State.) The state beverage, it turns out, is actually milk.

(The most common reply to the post below so far is something along the lines of "Wait until they find out about Wisconsin.")

Okay, they can yap all they want about how they’re gonna kill us and how loud Autzen is, etc …. but this level of breathtaking ignorance cannot stand. You don’t outdrink the Midwest, period. If you think you might be able to, you’re simply misinformed. That’s the end of the story.

Real ones have fun without alcohol.
If you don’t want to drink, fine … but it’s been a part of European and by extension American culture for centuries. The pitch to get other people to abstain is a pointless and losing battle, but I applaud anyone who chooses not to drink for his own personal reasons.

*Millenia (in Europe)
And its consumption has been permissable, encouraged even, by the church throughout most of that time. The oldest brewery in the world was started by the Catholic church. The connection between abstaining from alcohol and moral purity didn't really become popular until the Temperance movement of the 19th century. Nothing but respect for anyone who chooses not to drink though.

Like any good Midwesterner, I always took pride in my beer drinking. Then, in my mid-twenties, I spent a weekend in Kholer, Wisconsin and proceeded to get out drank by soccer moms, who in doing so, barely broke a sweat or slurred a word. It was then I realized that in the pantheon of beer drinkers, it is Wisconsin and then it is the rest of us mortals.

However, the PNW may well have the Midwest beat in cannabis consumption (although Paducah might have something to say about that) and they certainly have us beat in the category of serial killers per capita.

For sure, I was just being "conservative" and sort of counting millennia as "centuries and centuries." :ROFLMAO: As for Wisconsin, yeah ... I go to Door County at least once per year, I have a very good family friend from Wisconsin and I in general have a lot of fondness and respect for the state. However, due to Illinois generally being underrated when it comes to that sort of Midwest/beer-drinking cultural image and Wisconsinites already having a plenty-inflated ego in this regard, I make a habit out of not tooting their own horns for 'em.

So, I'm assuming the light colored counties through West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee is due to passing out after a cup of moonshine rather than 14 beers?
:ROFLMAO: On a serious note, one of my more niche interests is the history of religious denominations in the US and specifically how the prevalent denomination(s) in a given region really affected that region's culture, even up until today. Just using the Midwest and Upper South on that map, you can really see that where Lutherans were more prominent, alcohol was a way bigger part of the culture. Then when you get to the lower Midwest like Kansas where Methodists would have far-outnumbered Lutherans, it's a bit more lightly colored, as they were sort of split on alcohol historically. Then you get to where less traditional Protestant groups like Baptists are prominent, and you get a bunch of light counties, haha.

My galaxy brain take is that it might be a good thing if Luke throws an interception in this game. I expect we'll lose either way, but I'd rather lose attacking down the field instead of playing risk averse and trying to grind the clock. Show them that you belong on this stage.

Sat. forecast for Eugene: Slip N Slide

justin-fields-chicago-bears.gif
As you will find out "It NEVER rains at Autzen!!" ;)

I do believe rain is suppose to hold off until around 3PM Pacific, so staying with tradition it won't rain during the game or certainly most of the game.

Oh, and if you are at the game, you'll also learn "Kenny Wheaton is going to score!!"

Oregon 38
Illinois 27

Stays very competitive until halfway through the third quarter.

Wisconsin and the arrowhead of Minnesota, I expected. lol Iowa. The best part is that the Univ. of Wisconsin produced this map, I assume as a public health initiative.

Question: When they say five drinks for a man, is that a can of beer? glass of wine? or a martini?
As an Oregonian, I'd be plastered if I had five good pours of my favorite Pinot Noir. I actually have an "Oregon Pinot Noir" glass that will hold a full bottle of Pinot if poured carefully
