Still a looong 7 hours til game time. I'm so amped right now I don't know what to do with myself.

Edit: as soon as I posted this, my wife informed me we're spending the afternoon in the rain at a fall festival in Lebanon, KY.

Watch Minnesota @ Michigan. It will induce a long mid-afternoon nap, if not an outright coma.

EDIT: Your wife's intervention is a textbook example of why marriage is virtuous. Saving your a$$ from wasting an afternoon watching meaningless games, and preserving your ability to play the trump card this evening when she wants you to do something other than watch the Illini. ;)

ESPN was spurned by the big ten and will do anything to downplay any team success out of the big ten going forward. Anything that appears to strengthen the conference including a surprise good team like Illinois will be downplayed. Don’t watch them voluntarily, don’t give them the ratings or platform. As far as urban Meyer goes, he’s become a huge idiot and does not do his homework, it’s an easy paycheck for him. He is still riding his success as a coach but it’s not translating to skill/success as an analyst.

Not a single Illinois pick even for super dogs at +19. Major disrespect.
Don’t worry about it Illini brothers. Remember the barge game? It was the same thing and we came out as victors as we will today. Our team has confidence because the players know their abilities and the coaches See it every day in practice. Penn State University is nothing for our great team.

* 9 OT game. BB knows how to win there.
I"m not sure that finally pulling off a win in 9OTs is really making a case for "knowing how to win", but I get your point.

I think the amazing thing with Bielema is that his teams don't seem to be intimidated on the road. He and Underwood both have that and it's a huge part of their success.

true side story to this
McClain Stevenson is a NW alum, from Danville tho

he wanted to wear a purple NW sweater and have Blake as a NW grad, but the purple color looked terrible on TV .
So he switched it to a blue UI sweater, had Blake as a UI grad and all was good
Great story I didn't know about the NW colors.

Stevenson was from BloNo. There is a long list of Danville guys including Hackman and the Van Dykes.

Actually sounds kinda romantic to me. 🥹 Despite my earlier comment, @purcy51 may unwittingly be setting himself up for an evening during which the Illini game is of greatly subordinated interest to other activities . ;)

lol Urban Meyer. Because of course Bret has no experience with this phenomenon in his many years of playing for Iowa and coaching at Wisconsin.

The malignant laziness of pundits flowing from the utter lack of accountability for anything they babble is astounding. These guys are one step removed from carnival barking.
Meyer is an idiot. His success in college football is clouded by rampant cheating. His nfl tenure was an embarrassment.

it’s nuts
I am getting nervous that all these comments about the line being incomprehensible (I agree) are karma-ing us into a nineteen point loss. Please, god, no!

IF the beloved win, this would have to be one of the sweetest W’s I can remember considering everything surrounding this game from the manufactured outrage on the PSU side to whatever “analysis” came out of the major pregame shows today.

I would buy that sweater in a heartbeat.
I used to have a Henry Blake sweater. A casualty of one of my moves over the years. (it's always your favorites that get lost...)

I'm hoping that the Illini bring me a birthday present today on my 73rd year of existence here on this orb called Earth............

View attachment 36555

Everybody sing it with me!

Happy birthday to Pru…………….
let’s beat PSU…………..
Grab two neighbor ladies…………..
And throw back a brew (or his medication of choice, of course)!

Years and years of heartbreak mean I can't see a path to victory today, but that's why I'm not on the coaching staff. Hope Bret and Barry and Aaron have done nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe PSU film and have a flawless game plan ready to execute tonight. It feels like we're in a better position than we have been for a long, long time.
