Outside of Valentine, we don't have a back that can get out of the backfield quickly and with a burst. We've seen that against FAR worse defense than we'll see tonight.

The offensive line had better be great. If we can't establish the run, Luke will be running for his life. Sadly, I do expect that to be the case.

17-7 PSU at the half
31-10 PSU Final

Everybody sing it with me!

Happy birthday to Pru…………….

Grab two neighbor ladies…………..
And throw back a brew (or his medication of choice, of course)!

I'm well past an age where I care to listen to a bunch of national dudes opine about teams they barely know, let alone follow, but I wouldn't mind if our guys were tuning in for an extra chip on their shoulder. The worst people around are out here giving us zero respect. I hope we make them eat their words.
A bunch of over paid blow hards. No research regarding our Illini. I haven't watched ESPN in quite awhile. Worthless.

I've got confidence in our WRs. I'm a little worried about punt returns. It only take one muff on the road to wreck the game
I hope that we get a chance to field some punts.

Listening to the talking heads on a betting show:

In their last 18 games, PSU is 17-0-1 against the spread when it is +7 to +24.

People are just jumping on that.
like this years team has all that much to do with the teams from 2022 & 2023 ?

true side story to this
McClain Stevenson is a NW alum, from Danville tho

he wanted to wear a purple NW sweater and have Blake as a NW grad, but the purple color looked terrible on TV .
So he switched it to a blue UI sweater, had Blake as a UI grad and all was good
The show came out in about '72. We still had B & W in those days (of course we had just gotten rid of party lines, too, in rural Illinois).

I’ve listened to a ton of podcasts breaking this down. Most are talking out of their butts expecting a big cover.

I have seen one or two give really good analysis, and yes they still pick PSU to win.

Sounds like the concerns for Illinois are that Penn state basically hasn’t played anyone yet so they might be conservative and have some stuff we haven’t seen, plus it’s gonna be a huge home advantage, and there’s way more depth. Their run game is really, really good and they have a top-notch OC guiding it. If there’s weaknesses, kotelnicky will find them. He’s beat AHen’s brakes off before, I think he’s ready to do it again.

We win if Luke’s hot streak continues, Drew Allar falters against what is unquestionably the best defense he’s faced this season, and we take advantage of our favorable special teams unit.

No respect from anyone. It's us against the world. I'll say it again, "Why not us?".

We will win this game, and now I don't even think it will be close. This is set up perfectly for us.

I see the logic but Aller is not the running threat we saw with KU that changes the approach, can’t use the transitive property in this case.

Safe pick for the talking heads. And probably the right one for them to make. It's up to Illinois to prove them wrong. They have been wrong every game against a ranked team so far this year.

If we win, just watch all of the analysts fall over one another to call out everyone else for underestimating this Illinois team.
