Was listening to 101 ESPN in STL and BB was on to do a feature. Some interesting things being said. Sounds like we are the healthiest we have been since week 1 with almost everyone back, but a little tid bit that I was excited to hear is that BB plans to get Shammond Cooper involved in the game plan this week against PU. Might have been a STL slant, but that sounds interesting to me.

Anyone else going Saturday? I will be tailgating with my Illini wife and all of my Purdue relatives on the south intramural field (brother, niece, nephew, son, daughter, daughter in law, future son in law all Boilers). I will be in Illini gear with a Purdue marching bad hat (son, DIL, future SIL all AAMB alums - I do love their band).

Are the Marching Illini travelling?

Go Illini!
I'll be there with my dad (Michigan fan). Prob will be on the IM black lot unless other lots drop on stub hub.

Will have the Illini canopy and Illini/Chief flags flying!!

Here's the thing about our Super-Super-Seniors: they are like math students who have been taught how to do math wrong for 4 years in middle school, and now we're suddenly expecting them to understand geometry. It takes two years to unteach them everything from the previous teacher (or parent...), and another year, hopefully, to cram all the knowledge into their head they need to know so that hopefully before they graduate high school they can have a basic understanding of math.

I watch some of our "most experienced" players make the same mistakes they were coached to do under the previous regime. The fact that BB has not dropped Lovie's name in his post game interviews or mid week interviews is a damn miracle in and of itself. Peters is NOT a better QB than he was when he arrived (I'm in the camp of "I'm not sure he's even the best QB on the team"). Some of our defensive players still don't seem to understand where to be on the field. The offensive line seems like trash. I doubt BB is coaching players to make mistakes. This is still carryover from 5 years of experiences under a coach who was not suited to run a college program.

Having an experienced super-senior class when the only experience they have is trudging through a field of :poop: is not beneficial experience...

I think there were 2 players from last year’s team that started week 1 in the NFL.

Chief you hit the nail on the head. Let's hope by now the new staff has taught them geometry. I wonder what Ryan Johnson looks like under center. What is funny is you see other teams back up qb come in and throw for many yards. I thought on that last series against Md. IW would have been a good choice to try him at qb. All we needed was one first down. What else hurt was having Josh McCray hurt and not playing. On to PU. My son and I will be at the game. Leaving Louisville at 9am to drive through Hoosier land. How is parking at the stadium? Should we get pay for a pass on line or just wait to get to the stadium? I have never been to Ross Ade. What about food establishment around the area?

All parking in the lots around the stadium is now reserved. You can check Stubhub to see if you can get one (that's what I did). Otherwise, parking is free at McCutcheon Street Garage and Wood Street Garage (google Purdue Parking Maps to see where those are). Other garages are pay ($30, I believe). You can tailgate in the garages if you like.

There's not much around the stadium and the tailgate lots except a McDonalds. There is a DQ just west of McCutcheon garage. If you park at Wood Street garage, it is near campus town and there is everything imaginable there.

My two kids went to Purdue, so I know it too well.

Illini 23 Purdue 12. B1G West championship buzz continues to get louder.
If we win, I think it will be in a shootout. I do not see our pass defense holding up well against the pass happy Boilers. It is not supposed to rain buckets like it did two years ago - which helped our run game vs. their pass game. Jeez, what a miserable day that was (other than the win).

We held Maryland to 10 points until late in 4th Quarter. Could do something similar to Purdue.

Illini defensive backs coach Aaron Henry acknowledged that the defense has improved, but he isn’t interested in moral victories. He wants to see the team, and specifically his position group, take the next step by playing a complete game, not just “57 great minutes.”
The Illini’s next opportunity to do that is Saturday afternoon at Purdue, and it will be a formidable task. The Boilermakers rank No. 2 in the Big Ten in passing offense (326.3 yards per game), while Illinois — coming off an improved defensive outing — still ranks last in the conference in passing defense (321.3 yards per game).

Purdue is led by junior quarterback Jack Plummer, who is 70 of 97 passing for 745 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions this year. However, he was subbed out in the fourth quarter of last week’s loss at Notre Dame for fifth-year senior Aidan O’Connell, who won the starting job over Plummer last season. Boilermakers coach Jeff Brohm confirmed during his postgame news conference and on Monday that Plummer is the team’s starter going forward.

One factor that could sway this game significantly is the status of Purdue wide receiver David Bell. The star junior was named first team all-Big Ten last year and is averaging 106.3 receiving yards per game with three TDs this season. He entered concussion protocol after taking a big hit to the head last weekend and is a game-time decision, according to Brohm.

Just win , baby............OK , lets just win then , baby !.............................

Wake Forest just pounded UVa @ Scott Stadium. The same place UVa pounded the Illini. I don't know enough about football to dissect what the problems are. I don't think the talent deficit is as severe but it probably is. Also think we have two generation of very bad teams that have created a no win culture. Our coaching carousel has led to poor technique and schemes. Still think Coach B can make improvements but this is going to be a long road.
