Or put Edey in PnR situations with Kofi and Trent/Belo.

Even beyond getting concussed, banging with Edey down low did seem to take it out of Kofi. I think Kofi is definitely quicker. Let’s pull Edey away from the hoop and make him move his feet and see if he can do that without fouling.
This. Can't let Edey establish defensive position. Getting Kofi the ball while he is moving towards the basket is key.

Podz dad tweeted video of him shooting with BBV rebounding at Ubben. Said it was after returning today. Kids keeping his stroke sharp
I really think Podz can be special like all of our freshmen.

Also what I really love is BBV rebounding for him...that is selfless and huge support for our future of Illini...I think BBV will have a key leadership role the next couple of years. For a guy that Avgs ~2 min a game over last 3 yrs, got to love his attitude and positive influence!

The team is really looking good... handily winning on same court where Hoosiers beat Purdue couple of weeks ago...momentum and play is trending up!

I would probably borrow headgear from the wrestling team for Kofi. Probably too subtle.
Or could go this route...

+ on Podz and BBV.

I think the only reason why that IU-Purdue game was a one-possession game at the end is because (1) IU had only 3 turnovers; (2) their D on Stefanovic was stifling and Purdue was unable to screen him free; (3) Phinisee played out of his mind. Any of those three slackens and Purdue wins easily.

If we'd limited ourselves to three TOs yesterday we would have blown them out by nearly 30.

Good comments on IU recipe on Purdue...anything special IU did against Edey/Williams?

IIRC, Ivey had an off nite from three but shot well within the arc. He shot an off-balance three falling backward at the buzzer that nearly banked in to tie it. Edey got his usual short-range pts but was abysmal when they put him on the stripe. He's usually ~ 60% at the line but shot 2-7 that evening, so that's 4-5 lost pts right there. Trayvion had only 2 pts. TJD was on him as I recall, and did a solid job.

I give props to IU's defense. Until yesterday (when we passed them ) they had (I believe) the best D in the conference. That seems to explain their success this season, as their 3-pt shooting just blows in-conference against strong opponents. They were 6-20 against Purdue and 3-13 against us.

BTW, Tyler Cottingham has a good postgame piece on IlliniBoard this morning, showing the shot chart and how the Illini forced IU into the paint where (apart from early) they struggled.

OK staff...look at tape on TJD on Trayvion and set Kofi up for success... and let BVD put Edey on the line.
That's my summary...sounds good to me.

Edey had a physical game yesterday against Hunter. When Edey is in you have to make him run the floor. Our guards all need to come and play defense Can’t afford any stupid or made up flagrant fouls but need to play with toughness

Lol. Lee Corso is just plain funny. Look up some time the photo he had taken of his IU football team hastily assembled in the end zone during a timeout following a score, showing the scoreboard behind the team which read IU 7 - OSU 0. Woody Hayes was not amused. Final score something like OSU 42 - IU 7.

Everyone is going to tout this as the "winner is the B1G champion" game. But really they have all the pressure. They are a game behind and they are at home. I'm hoping we come in and play loose. They have much more to lose than we do. IMO they still have another 2 losses on their schedule after this. I think we have 1 or 2 more losses after this.

So we win this game and it puts us in an extremely good position for an outright title. We lose and we are still in an extremely good position for a shared title.

Of course, it's the B1G, it's a grind. Anything could happen. Both teams could run the table after this one. I think at this point everyone knows we are clearly the best 2 teams in the conference.
I think if we lose,...no chance for a shared title.

How many wins are you thinking an outright champ will need?

I still think 16-4 wins the B1G outright, so operating under that assumption, I don't see this as a must win. If we lose, we just need to finish 6-1 with our toughest stretch of games behind us. If we win, just go ahead and raise the banner. (Yes I know there's still a lot time left in the season. Yes I know the B1G is a grind.)

I think this game really hinges on stopping Stefanovic. The last time we played, he hit a lot of clutch shots. Hes like their Plummer. That, and Kofi staying out of foul trouble. I think we are better defensively than they are. Our bench is better. Hopefully they both are there against PU

Need to press how Edey leads with his elbows on all his moves. Its at least a flagrant one, and if they want to give off the impression they are looking after players safety, they have to call it. If I'm the Illinois media, I'm sprinkling talk about how Kofi suffered a concussion cause of it and it was never called. Could end up doing nothing, but social media is a powerful thing these days.

When Eddy is in, I’d like to see Curbelo in. Keep that sub rotation the same. Curbelo opens up for both Kofi and Payne.

T. Williams is a force but nothing Kofi can’t destroy. Definitely have to keep Eddy on his toes. And I’ll echo the BBV elbow fest just for added enjoyment!

100%. What he does is seriously dangerous.

Misinterpreted your post the first time. You're saying that if we lose, Purdue is likely to get at least a share of the B1G, in which case our only option is to win outright because Purdue owns the head to heads. Good point.

I still like our chances to win outright though. Just finish 6-2. I don't even care where the losses come from.
