If we're not prepared to have everyone come for blood against us, we're not the team we hope BB can develop. Hell, we're not even the team we've seen take the field this year.

If the players are afraid of stiff competition, they shouldn't be on the field.
We need to hit it hard in the first quarter to take the crowd out of the game.

I’m reading it as Vegas would see Washington as about a 2-point favorite at a neutral site and the Illini as slight favorites if it was a home game. In fact, oddsmakers may be giving Washington more than 3 points for the home advantage given the long road trip and their record at home. I like the Illini’s chances if they battle like they did against Ohio State.

Yup. Play like that and win the turnover battle

They don't want our Illini on National TV stage to often with our momentum. The big19 and the referees would have to stop Jacking us blatantly.

The scheduling couldn't have worked out better for Illinois in this game.

- Illinois had a bye week this week to heal up and adjust personnel and schemes as needed.
- Washington... had the opposite of a bye week. They played what will likely be their most physical game of the year. While you hate to to see injuries (even to our football enemies), they lost 3 guys on their offensive front against Michigan who will likely miss the Illinois game, their starting LT along with two tight ends.
- This will be Washington's 6th straight game without a bye. So they're likely a bit dinged up even outside of their major injuries, which might take a toll on a team already lacking depth.
- Plus, over the past 3 weeks, Washington has traveled more than 10,000 miles to play at Maryland in College Park, a home game in Seattle, then at Michigan in Ann Arbor and now back to Seattle. Whereas Illinois has traveled less than 2,000 miles before this game *the entire season*.

In a fairly even match up (SP+ has Washington 23 and Illinois 27), the scheduling could make an impact.

Of note, it's also crazy that Washington plays 5 teams this year the week after the other team has a bye.

Don James, R.I.P., no doubt.

And the trailblazing Sonny Sixkiller:

Core Illini memory unlocked. Being a kid down on the East stands North 10 yard line watching Sonny Sixkiller dismantle Mike Wells and Illinois. Without looking I’d say it was ‘71 or ‘72. The difference that year between their program and ours was just so starkly obvious.

Sonny Sixkiller is the among the best names for a QB ever.

That being said, we owe the Dawgs some payback.

This is the long range forecast Seattle for Thursday; Saturday will probably be rain.

I was at that game. It was my sophomore year, and my sorority block was in the East Balcony towards the horseshoe! According to the internet, it looks like #15 Washington beat Illinois 52-14. Ahhh, memories… And yes, we long suffering Illini definitely need some payback! Let’s gooooooo!

This is AS PIVOTAL a game as IU, USC, OSU...

BIGTIME letdown spot for most of our recent history. This feels like the game we used to lose after a pretty good start to a year then it all crashes.

BONUS TRAP GAME POINTS SINCE BASKETBALL TEAM LOOKED GOOD!

We watched the exhibition game....BU's team is Sweet 16 good. If we lose...most of the non football loving fan base slowly eases their sights on State Farm Center and attendance slowly fades for the football team.

Not this year Bret...prove everyone you've turned this thing around!
