Washington has a few very dangerous weapons and it will be a major challenge to cover all that they can do. Demond Williams can throw and take off on either designed runs or broken plays; he's fast and can get to the edge easily. Jonah Coleman is a beast; I don't know how Michigan limited him but I'm sure we're looking at it. And Denzel Boston is a great route-runner and pulls down most everything. Our defense will have to keep their eyes moving and their legs twitchy ready to cover all of these options. This, and also Husky Stadium being pretty formidable visually and it can get VERY loud. Also probably rain lol.

All that said I like the setup, with our bye week and their travel, and the start time. We can pick apart their defense and I think our lines are better. UW also has a tendency to start slow, then roar back so gotta pounce early and hold it. I like us by 4-7 pts in this one.

BB is excluding Xavier Scott in his “from a health standpoint, really should have everybody back for practice this week” comment, right? Haven’t heard much on XS14’s injury lately.
I assume such comments by default exclude 'out for season' players, which is how X has been designated for the last few games.

I’m gonna say Illini win 30-27 on a walk-off Olano field goal. Close, grind-it-out game trading blows, sprinkled with a few big plays.

I think we will win this one as long as we avoid turnovers and Luke can start quickly. They will score some points on us, but I'm much more optimistic after seeing the effort against OSU. But we need Luke to hit throws early and not take 3-4 series to loosen up.

Can't wait for this one.
Yes. Build an early two score lead.

Let’s hope there was a lot of self scouting during the bye week. There have been 2 corner blitzes from Luke’s right side that he never saw coming. First one resulted in a hard sack and the second was a strip sack.
You better believe Ryan Walters will be dialing up this same blitz on the first obvious passing down, and maybe 10 more times if it works. Hopefully BL and Luke have figured out how to counter this.
Thought I heard Luke motioned/audibled a TE/WR away from that side and no one was left to pickup the blitz. Staff was like that’s why you shouldn’t have motioned them.

I’m sure it was a key on defense-see this alignment and CB blitz.

I think the score will be lower, Ohio St only scored 24 against them. I think Bielema will get them ready to beat Walters and we win a close 23-20 game

Stop the run on D
Run the ball on O
Steady special teams play.

And ILL win the game.

That [Michigan] was their worst game of the season. Couldn't get anything going. Do not sleep on this offense. Williams, Coleman and Boston are a very dangerous trio.
Yep, I think we're going to struggle trying to stop their Offense. And then we've got to face Ryan Walters when we're on O. I just don't like long-distance road games against good (5-2) teams.

34 - Wash
23 - ILLINI

(5-2 picking the winner; 2-5 vs the spread, so why am I even allowed to predict a score?)

None of us know how this will play out but as much as Ryan knows our offense, we know his defense. It is a chess game for sure and it will be interesting to see who outwits whom.

I’m more optimistic that they can’t stop our offense and Luke. Much like the USC game, I expect us to score points. Turnovers are the difference and this game we win the battle and the game!!

From several accounts of the Purdue game last year, it wasn’t that Walters knew our offense and could stop us. (we sliced through them repeatedly)

It was that he had some say in offensive playcalling during the 2nd half because he knew our defense…or at least Henry’s tendencies.

I doubt the OC at UW will just relinquish control…but even if he did decide to lean heavily on Walters’ insight, he still wouldn’t have the familiarity to make right call after right call. (Which it seemed Purdue did last year)

Looking forward to the game!

Having the bye week is huge. Heal up, get whole, and have a solid plan. I really think we have to take better care if the ball. If we could've done thar vs everyone except IU we may have only 1 loss this year. We can beat ourselves. I was actually encouraged by the game vs OSU and I don't think if we can just take care of the ball we will win by 10 or more. Our QB, experience, time to prepare, overall lines performance vs OSU lead to confidence and faith in Coach B and Luke to lead our squad in our best performance this season.

A lot of optimism on this board about the Illini's performance against Washington this Saturday. Include me out. When Washington has a decent team (which they do this year) they are just about unbeatable in Husky Stadium. I hope I'm wrong, but: UW 34, Illini 24.
