Belo went through some pregame warmups on Tues. The radio folks didn't know if he would play or not at that point.
And if I heard correctly in that new Tim Anderson clip, Trent seemed to point toward a return to practice on Tuesday (which I believe would have been this past Tuesday.) If true, good news as well. Plus, we saw him jogging on the machine.

If we don't have Curbelo and Frazier back for this game we are in trouble. I cant imagine either of them not playing. We need everyone.
I’m astonished how quickly Illini nation panics. Yes, we have 4 impact players currently out. However, my guess is that every other player on our roster is rated well above the players on the ASU roster. Brad and Co. will implement a game plan that likely will result in an Illini +15 point victory, if not more. The minutes those playing is actually a huge opportunity for development not otherwise afforded. Could we get upset? Sure. Likelihood is perhaps 1% - 3% chance.
Breathe. Breathe. Gonna be ok….

Truth. For context, Minnesota, the apparent bottom of the bottom of the Big Ten is 112th in Kenpom, and ASU is 184th. Not to mention, we’re at home. Marquette game worries me a bit more, but the Golden Eagles would still grade out as the 3rd worst team in the B1G by Kenpom standards. Play hard enough to win the next 2, and that gives a week of rest before HOF Classic.

If they're limited to the same group that they sent out vs Jackson State, this is going to be a hold your breath game. Jackson State is awful and won't win a non conference game. Arkansas State won't be world beaters, but they come from a very competitive conference (Sun Belt) and are dangerous. While our guys might be rated higher(which is moot)...we won't have a primary ball handler, depth at the guard position would obviously be zero and we'll be less experienced than ASU.

I'm not saying that we'd lose, but the recipe is there for an upset. I think it would be in their best interest to get, at least, one of the two guards(Frazier or Curbelo) back.

All that said, if they can't get any of those guys back, it is what it is. Have to try and figure it out.

I expect to see Plummer at PG unless we get both Trent and Belo back. Was least worst of last games experimental PGs. However don’t want to put down the great efforts of DaMonte or Hawk in their attempt.

Our players being rated higher doesn't mean as much when there's a rather gaping hole at a key position that controls the offense. The injuries forced us to run an entirely different offense than the one we've been practicing because we just straight up didn't have the ball handlers to run it. The good thing is, if our guys are out again, at least we will have doubled the number of days we've practiced the spread offense, from 4 to 8. So there's that.

Now, do I still think we'll pull it out without Belo and Trent? Yes, I believe in our team. But I also would really rather not tempt fate. And, frankly, it'd be nice if we could work on the offense that we'll actually be running this season.

I hope to see a guard back (or 2) for my viewing pleasure only. It was difficult seeing Damonte trying to run the offense. It will be a tight game if we try that out again.

We just need one of Trent or Belo back and ILL cruises to victory.

Are you new here?
Fair.
I lived in CU for 10 years post graduation (85). Been an avid fan for over 40 years.
Not on this board for long, but I do understand high major FB and BB fans mentality.
That said, regardless of fact, circumstance, rankings, athleticism, coaching, home crowd, etc, there are always extremists.
Both high end and low end.
That said, even at 58 years of age, I am still amazed……

I'm concerned, not panicked. It would look bad on the resume even though the team wasn't near full strength. I think they'll do well, but it's more of a challenge to play 4 men down.

Don't take it personal STL. Rucks was just messing with you.
This is part of our good natured fun, finally having a winning team after years of depressing seasons.
