Very much a trap game. They have a winning record (not a tough schedule though) And they also have a high scoring 5'9" guard...... Sound familiar?

CMU will be 8-2 going into the game. 5'9" Junior Guard Marcus Keene leads the nation in scoring at 30.4 ppg.

The preseason polls weren't kind to CMU but they are answering the challenge and sitting at 8-2 right now.

Their stud, Marcus Keene, will give us Keon Johnson nightmares all over again. He's a 5'9" guard who is averaging 30 ppg.

EDIT: And I see he just went for 40 points tonight in their win over Green Bay.

This game has worried me a bit for the past couple weeks. Hope tonight's game was a wake-up call.

Keene worries me. I have a real bad feeling about this game. I also thought we'd blow IUPUI out of the gym though so who knows maybe we beat CMU by 30. All I know is I want to be 8-3 heading into the BYU game.

CMU scored 107 points tonight. Let's hope the defense looks MUCH better, or it could be a long day Saturday.

They play a small lineup. I say we do the same and play Black at the 5.. probably won't happen but I would like to see it at least a little bit for this game.

This is one of those games where

1) Keene goes off
2) Or, we manage to contain Keene & their 2nd/3rd scoring option has a career game against us.

If our bigs come to play I think we'll be fine, but I'm not super confident about this one.

Per Kenpom CMUs offense is 57 but their defense is 262...if we can slow their O a little bit we should be ok but it's going to be similar to this game I fear.

They are also 18th in tempo so if nothing else it should be entertaining. It might not be comfortable but I think that the Illini win a high scoring affair.

They are every bit as bad as that number suggests defensively. Have to stop their 2 guards. Do that and we win. They don't have anyone else that I could really see going off on us.

Keene and Brayson combined for 70 points tonight. I think this game might put the nail in the coffin for our nonconference season. Welp.
