Any one watch the EIU game against Chattanooga yesterday?
This would be a GREAT use of the NEZ. Make it a free childrens / family section with tickets distributed through schools and make money on concessions. We should 100% be sending free tickets to schools from Danville to Springfield and Peoria to Effingham
Wow. Late game on a Saturday, rest on a Sunday, and they will only have two days of practice for us unless they are coming up on the day of the game. That’s huge for us.I see that Chatanooga has a regular (therefore, shortened) week in advance of our game. They play at 6pm eastern at home this coming Saturday
Great name. My all time favorite is still this XFL player. His jersey name begs the question "Who He?":I think every team should have at least one player named Equanimeous. Just saying...
I became an Illini fan at age 8, which was 1958.ESPN research from a few years ago said 95% of avid fans become fans of "their" team by age 17. Doing everything we can to get kids in the stands should be first on the list.
My Illini fandom started at age 13 in 1973 when I went on a bus trip from my high school for a campus tour and football game. I was hooked and didn't even apply at any other school. Don't even know if they do things like that any more.
I live in Bangkok so it's 3:00 in the afternoon here but Pru and uofi7477 what are you doing up at 3:00am? Nevermind Prumnan. I don't really need to know!
My father and brother were Badgers, so I didn't become an Illini fan until the day I stepped on campus.I became an Illini fan at age 8, which was 1958.
It’s so essential we change the dynamic among young Illinoisans. I’m an Illini fan because my dad and grandpa were (neither are alums), and it became a part of my identity. It was so entrenched that I cheered for the Illini in grade school in a town full of rival fans and maintained my fandom through four years at another Big Ten university.ESPN research from a few years ago said 95% of avid fans become fans of "their" team by age 17. Both my parents are from Wisconsin and went to Madison and listened to Badgers games on WTMJ.My father and brother were Badgers, so I didn't become an Illini fan until the day I stepped on campus.
I just bought 4 tickets to the IL/MI game at the Big House for $65 a piece (on stub hub). We are not in that league to be charging that much. They definitely need to lower ticket prices. Stadium is 1/2 full and saw Horseshoe tickets are $75 for the Iowa game!!! For Chatanooga they are $25.
But 4-8 or worse is very much possible if we continue to play sloppy football.Looking at the schedule, 8-4 is an attainable record this season. If we have a defense that keeps us in every game, the sky is the limit. And if we can stop with the bad mistakes, it could be even better.
We haven't lost back to back games in almost a year. This is the most successful the program has been in awhile. Time to fine tune a few things starting with the turnovers. But 4-8 or worse is very much possible if we continue to play sloppy football.
I hate to harp on that, but it's been alarming to see those old Illinois losing habits seeping back in when they'd been so refreshingly diminished last year.
It had looked like the Bielema message and focus was taking root. That needs to be the case for us to have success.
They don't need to block the field goal . . .In particular I will worry that Chattanooga will have a late lead and seal a win on a blocked field goal
