IMO he just doesn’t fit into Underwood offensive scheme which is mainly 5 out opening the driving lanes.
Did you forget we had Kofi for 3 years? BU has shown he knows how to showcase a skilled post player if they deserve it.

kofi was an All American and the offense was built around Kofi. This year is quite different and the offense is built to suit TSJ and Marcus. The offense almost always stagnant when Hawkins is out,am not saying underwood can’t adjust but this year with Dain‘s skillset he just doesn’t fit quite well especially when you rely on multiple ball handlers without a true point guard.Did you forget we had Kofi for 3 years? 10-2 in non-conference looking pretty darn good.
Ty has continued to improve. Not much of a concern to me anymore. He had a really bad 2-3 minute stretch with a couple TOs and passed a layup for what ended up being a really good open three that was missed.
He needs to look to score when he's by the basket. That's the next step in his development, but he has gotten to where he needed to be this year. He's playing his role, which is what we need.
Double check the counting. Illini are 9-2 now, with wins over EIU, Oakland, Valpo, WIU, Southern, Rutgers, FAU, Colgate and Mizzou.*9-2 (we're 8-2 now)
@Rutgers was a conference game, so we’re 8-2 non-con, 1-0 in conference.Double check the counting. Illini are 9-2 now, with wins over EIU, Oakland, Valpo, WIU, Southern, Rutgers, FAU, Colgate and Mizzou.
One of the wins in conference and the OP said "10-2 in non-conference."Double check the counting. Illini are 9-2 now, with wins over EIU, Oakland, Valpo, WIU, Southern, Rutgers, FAU, Colgate and Mizzou.

We'd be 13-0 right now.we need a PG
A pratfall?FDU has a chance to do the funniest thing ever.
October: we have no point guard and it’s going to be a disasterwe need a PG
I think that we're still closer to November than we are to your December example. We are running a PG by committee and it's working. As long as the ball continues to move, it doesn't stick, we're getting into our offense on time and running the offense correctly (especially late in games and when being pressured and trapped full court)...the position less basketball concept works.October: we have no point guard and it’s going to be a disaster
November: we’re running point guard by committee but if we had a true point guard we’d be so much better
December: we have five point guards
Where was Telemundo hiding this gem?Throwback to our first dance with FDU. They proved quite pesky for us in the first half and then we finally remembered who the hell we were in the 2nd half.

Git's have accepted their rolls, which is huge and a testament to BU and to player maturity.
To say that this is optimal, obviously, isn't right, but it is working and with the number of guys that look to be calm and capable....no reason why it shouldn't continue.
My opinion only, but I truly think BU has always wanted this type of team. His system thrives with ball movement and penetrating the lane. That's why CH is the perfect 5man for this team. He drags his defender out with him due to his ability to knock a shot down every once in a while. Dain and Kofi prevent/ed that from happening. The lane is congested when those two were in the game. Their defender stayed/s low. When Kofi came along, we grabbed him(as anyone in their right mind would have done) and adjusted. But I think the days of us having a traditional Big man are gone. Again, just my early morning thoughts and opinion.Did you forget we had Kofi for 3 years? BU has shown he knows how to showcase a skilled post player if they deserve it.

Also on D. He finally has a team that can switch everything without creating an exploitable mismatch. They did it to perfection in the first half of Mizzou. This could bother Purdue. My opinion only, but I truly think BU has always wanted this type of team. His system thrives with ball movement and penetrating the lane. This team is so fun to watch.
I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
ILL!
I believe the keys to beating Purdue is ......pressuring their guards....force an uptempo type game that limits Edey's touches....and having good games from Hawkins and Dain/Hansberry wouldn't hurt.....if we can do these things I like our chances against the BoilersAlso on D.
