It kind of just hit me how much is on the line for this one. I hope we can perform, but I also hope the fans stay behind the team and staff if we lose. Winning this game will officially change everyone's opinion on us. We are still in the "maybe they're good, but it's more likely that the teams they've played are bad" phase. If we beat Iowa, we won't be sneaking up on anyone else this season. Nobody except Northwestern had their Illinois game circled on their schedule this year. That will change if we win this one.

The conversation will go from "Illinois could win the B1G West haha" to "Illinois is the team to beat in the B1G West."

I think it is so wild we've spent more time wringing our hands over ticket sales than talking about this surprisingly splendid squad - which is literally two wins from being bowl eligible.
re: squad - i've refrained since I don't want to jinx. The announcer says, kicker has made 19/20, 98% freethrow shooter at the line - it only makes me anxious where before they said it I had extreme confidence. of the surprising stats posted this week were O and D rankings - IA ranked only a few spots lower than us on O. Their O has been inept in the parts of the games I've watched, needed safeties since they couldn't score a TD, ... I just don't see how our D doesn't shut down their O.

Hopefully we win. A loss and this supposed horrid Iowa team has the same record as us and is in the pilot seat to win the West. Regardless we are ahead of schedule on this rebuild and sitting pretty for a bowl which we all would have been happy with a month ago.

It’s a circular thing, my man - there’s been plenty of talk about this team and how much we love them, but they’re arguably somewhat “proven” and we want to see the fans reward them with a sellout crowd. I don’t think they’re separate issues.

But as for this team?? I love ‘em. Hope they SMASH Iowa!!

Still haven't sold out the 4 for $109 deal yet, looks like they are throwing you into the deep horseshoe. Wonder why they are still available??

I was able to select four tickets on the sidelines and while it says 75 per seat on selection page, at checkout the price reflected 109. Messaging needs to be better.

I want everyone discussing tickets and fan support to see this… I want you to see during the 20 years listed below the Illini have had FOUR winning seasons and SIXTEEN losing seasons yet still averaged 47,000 fans per game (tickets sold), which is more than this year.

Illini fans have given this program incredible support over the last 20 years considering the quality of the teams. The Illini have literally been one of the worst 3 power 5 teams during this period and still sold more tickets than this year.

The problems with attendance this year are institutional. Its not about whether you or I will pay $75 per ticket. It’s about the DIA connecting 60k people with a ticket which they’ve failed to do. They haven’t even sold out the 77 club for HOMECOMING next week. Total institutional failure.

For those of us who are a bit more visual, here you go... Other than the spike in interest/excitement after the Lovie hire, it's been a clear downward trend since the Rose Bowl season.

I'm not seeing what you are seeing, only the horseshoe is available for the deal.

Watching in Colombia - Sorry if this is the wrong forum but does anyone know if/how I can watch the game Saturday from Colombia? Does BTN live stream internationally? I've looked and can't find any good information. Thank you.

Handy with a VPN and a cable login? Otherwise may have to “steal” it. I’ve tried watching in UK and didn’t work but I’m not the most savvy with this stuff.

I'm going to tell you something I've kept to myself for years -- None of you ever knew Red Grange. It was long before your time. But you know what a tradition he is at Illinois...

And the last thing he said to me -- "Bret," he said - "sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Galloping Ghost...

I don't know where I'll be then, Bret", he said - "but I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."

Illinois -- 35
Iowa -- 3
Bielema -- Contract exension
