I'm going to tell you something I've kept to myself for years -- None of you ever knew Red Grange. It was long before your time. But you know what a tradition he is at Illinois...

And the last thing he said to me -- "Bret," he said - "sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Galloping Ghost...

I don't know where I'll be then, Bret", he said - "but I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."

Illinois -- 35
Iowa -- 3
Bielema -- Contract exension

Very true, though him broadcasting The Granddaddy Of Em All on New Year's Day with the Big Ten and Pac 10 champions playing as the sun sets in Pasadena is just the essence of what is good in this world.
Agree 1000%. I will add that sitting outside on a sunny 70 degree fall day, watching Keith Jackson announce the Alabama/Tennessee game on the 3rd Saturday in October is right up there.

for those who are too young or weren't born, he was the play by play guy for the Nick Anderson "shot" game. "Incredibllllllle!" still rings in my ears from that game

I attended 88-92. I went to Seattle for the Final Four my freshman year. I was pumped for what Illinois basketball would be.

Iowa took that all away. "Dr" Tom, Bruce Pearl. Set us back for a freaking decade.

I loathe this school, their coaches, their fans. I want them to lose every game they play in every sport, unless against Notre Dame, in which case, I want a meteor to hit the stadium during the 3rd quarter. I want to humiliate this team Saturday. I want Kirk Ferentz to have to defend keeping his idiot son as OC after this game. I want Iowa fans to cry next week on sports talk radio about getting beat down by Illinois. I want Illinois to start a 10 game winning streak against this team.

i think the worry over this being a low scoring tight battle is typical illini fan hand wringing.
Who can blame us? folks, it's not going to be that close.

This is a 24-0 win.

I think there has been a little too much disrespect toward Iowa (which I completely understand, I want to blow them out too). But let's remember they still have an elite defense and they make a ton of plays on special teams. Petras is bad, but he has only thrown 2 INT's this year. They haven't given up a fumble yet and they have turned teams over 1.8 times per game.

As much as their fans hate it, Iowa is going to come in here and play very conservative and wait for us to make some bad mistakes. Petras isn't going to try and force a ball on 3rd down like Mertz did. They are happy to punt it away and play the field position game, if that's what it takes to win.

I think with how big this game is and playing at night at home in front of the biggest crowd in a long time, we will try to be aggressive and take some shots/have a few trick plays ready.

I think some fans are getting a little too confident after the Wisconsin game, when it reality this a completely different and much tougher game IMO.

I'll be perfectly happy with an 8-6 win (2 FG's and a safety).

The last O/U I saw was 35.5. I don't see any reality where the Over is a good bet--I'm thinking more like a 14-3 game tomorrow night.

Bret said Orange-Blue-Orange combo in his football 101 segment with Martin.....That could have changed since it was filmed but I doubt it,
Makes sense, we haven't changed our home uniform at all under BB. Which I appreciate. I have high hopes for our updated unis next year, I am anticipating a return to a very Kittner-era look.

No turnovers
Keep moving the chains
Wait for Chase Brown to break some long runs
Get ahead early and put pressure on Iowa offense to score
We have shown we can go deep to Bryant when we need to.
5th year experienced QB has only 2 interceptions in 5 games
Trust our defense against the worst offense in the B10

We will have 55,000 loud fans giving the team energy

Wear them down.

28-3. Chase Brown goes for 160 yds are 2 tds

Any chance McCray plays? We could use him in a rock fight with a team like this. Think there's no chance Iowa's offense is any threat to us, just gotta avoid turnovers. Run it all day and only ask DeVito to throw when we need to. I'm predicting Iowa to finish with fewer than 200 yards. I think we could really toast them if we wanted, but the play calling might just stay a little more conservative because of how terrible their offense is.

Orange jerseys should be a once every 4 year thing so every player who is here for 4 years gets a chance

the Greys ? I don’t like them & don’t want to see them again .

I have a hunch their offense tries to do too much and makes a couple of costly mistakes. I see a pick 6 coming.

Offense squeaks out 16 pts to go with the D score. 23-6.

Our D is going to be so fired up with MS rocking again. :illinois: :shield:

Wasn’t the NU beatdown last year white pants? Not a look I disapprove of … if we do orange jerseys, I hope helmet or pants are white.
