Impatiently waiting for this one. Should be a real treat! Personally, I think this isn't as close as others suggest.

We are getting the national title contender treatment with the 1110 am cbs time slot with no other games going on and Nantz/Raftery/Hill broadcast team. I wish we were going to be in Lucas oil for ticket availability but that isn’t happening until the elite 8 for us. Looks like tickets are 350 and up for Sunday On secondary market.

Thankfully Grant Hill is on another broadcast crew last I heard yesterday.....

we just played our one gimme game . glad the guys who usually watch & cheer were able to take the warm ups off and get on the floor . doubt that it happens again

EVERY GAME for us from now on will be against really good teams who will beat us if we don’t play our best .

I expect BU to have us ready to play & well prepared

We will have the slight advantage of having the most fans there at any game we play . that always helps and it must give the players a little extra reason to excel when family , friends & tons of fans are in the crowd

how many people will be allowed into Bankers ?
90% will likely be wearing orange & blue

Agree. No more gimmes left. We are likely to have to beat 5 consecutive games against AP top 17 teams to win title. Loyola is 17, Oklahoma State is 11, WVU is 13, Houston is 6, Baylor is 3, and Gonzaga is 1. We should be used to playing that many top 25 games I guess. I believe 25% capacity for all venues so Bankers would be around 4000.

Why at bankers life? Any rational?

Maybe they felt illinois would have an advantage already played there and wanna even it out for bracket excitement. Then again it's NCAA, so they may just think Illinois fans are too far away and won't travel well.

my guess is we just played 3 games at the BTT at Lucas , so we would have a slight familiarity with it and put us at Bankers v Loyola for that reason - it was available .

NCAA knows we travel well , but all venues will sell out anyway . I expect us to be kept out of Lucas if at all possible due to us playing 3 games there last weekend. if we ever aren’t playing our best , it’s not due to the venue .

The last time we played Loyola, if anyone's wondering.

Who could forget the immortal Sammy Ice? (pre-conference play)
Is it just me, or are those long baggy shorts/unis turning out to be the disco clothes era of college BB? Those and i guess the polar opposite Larry Bird/Jim Stockton short shorts.

Loyola reminds me of Wisconsin. Slow pace, good defense, decent big man. In the end, they aren’t going to have the horses to keep up with us.
I would hope the OSU and PU losses of yesterday will strike a chord with the team and let them know they can not take any team for granted and everyone is gunning for the B1G.

You might see some of Ayo as a decoy, taking their best defender Williamson way off the ball, and then Hutchison/Damonte staying in the corner and taking their second best defender Uguak far from the ball, and then it turns into 3 on 3 with Curbelo and Kofi running pick and roll. This is a big advantage for us. Loyola then may counter with putting Uguak on Kofi, and hiding Krutwig in the corner. Should be an interesting chess match.
Hutch, really?

Gotta remember, Loyola is playing with house money and they have nothing to lose.
In my opinion, this is why lower-seeded teams win. Teams that have nothing to lose play a "devil-may-care" style of play which can be contagious. Someone drops in a 3 falling out-of-bounds, and pretty soon no one on the team.an miss. Ohio State and Purdue seemed to fall victim to this - destroying my brackets. :)

This start time sucks for those of us out west. 9:10 am. Yuck.
my son , the OkSt grad (& part time Illini fan ) lives & works in Boston . He gets up at 5:30 am for his job . The ‘pokes game v Oregon St doesn’t start until 9:40 pm there . that game won’t be over until midnight

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I'll have been up for at least 2 hours by then. I'll just also have to fight with them for the TV.
I’m in PST too with a 6 and 2 year old. Fortunately they’re fair weather fans. I plan to have a decoy tablet on hand for Jr. Netflix streaming. Very thankful for modern tv and the pause button though, in case of a ruckus.

anytime i see nick fazekas' name i think of self's assistant jim dooley saying "eff you" to him in the post game handshake line after the wolfpack won at allen
I forgot about that. Jesus, what a prick Dooley was.

So... more than a little dose. Remember, when in the low post wrestling for the remote: they have a lower center of gravity, which can be to your detriment and lead to you picking up a couple early ones that will put you on the bench.

And sorry for the puns. I feel a certain level of self-consciousness about piling on in the recruiting thread the past few days but can't quite let go yet.

Self-consciousness is favorable in small doses, allowing one to be able to recognize reality in fleeting moments of discord and helping one to realize their lot in life has meaning without overblowing it's relevance to the universe....
