Izzo coaching ‘em up for a hard-hitting thugfest… We’ll need to match their energy, not get rattled, and hit free throws.

“They were physical as hell,” Izzo said of Northwestern, in an old-school game that featured 39 fouls and 40 free-throw attempts.

Later, he broke it down simply: “The scouting report is we have to play better, harder and more physical.”

Oh joy. Just what Sissoko needs, more motivation to play out of control and hit people in the head.

I don't disagree that the Kansas game was quiet, it was. But that was a specific circumstance with over priced tickets for a game everyone knew didn't count. I personally didn't have much interest in it besides to see things we were doing. I think overall our crowd gets hyped for certain games (that 2022 OSU game, Iowa 2022 and 2020, Arizona 2021,MLK day for Purdue) and for most other games gets loud during certain moments. I think a lot of crowds are like that now besides like Purdue.

Thinking this will still be a Q1 game at the end of the season. This is a must-win if we want to stay in the 2/3 seed conversation

Agreed, this game really seems like a tipping point for the season. Lose this and we slip to 1-4 vs quality opponents. 3 of those losses were to very good teams, but that win is getting weaker and we needed both our stars shooting 30+ to get it.

Unfortunately, there are just not many games left on the schedule that really move the needle. This is one of them and we need to take advantage.

I don’t mind if teams sag off TY because he’s such a great rebounder, cutter, passer and driver. It didn’t work against Edey because Ty couldn’t beat Edey to boards and drive on him. Demonte had the problem that he wasn’t a great driver so when teams sagged off him his only option was to shoot it. If Ty can develop a midrange he will be scary good. Want to see him take Domask’s spot next year but focused only on the midrange.

Don’t forget Dainja in the paint, remembered he went for double double last year.
I was just going to mention Dain. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go to him off the bench for this game. He’s just gotta work harder for those rebounds (than in the Purdue game). His skill set could have an impact for us.

I'd like to see a Dain/Sissoko matchup for a while, if nothing else than to make Mady have to work a little bit rather than just bodying smaller guys.

I would prefer to play a MSU team that had walked into Evaston and beaten the Wildcats.

I've seen this sentiment from many and it really makes no sense to me. You'd rather face a better team? Would you be even happier if they beat NW by 40? I mean, they are 9-6 and 1-3 in the Big 10, I'm not saying they can't play better but the last thing I would have liked to have seen was them looking like they figured stuff out heading into our matchup. I'll take a struggling team any day over a team that just had a fantastic showing

A p$ssed off B1G team that just got drummed, and then had their coach chew them up…very publicly…for being weak, is going to come out and punch us in the mouth, and maybe the taint too.

If we come out of the tip like last game, it’s going to be an old fashioned B1G alley brawl.

They’d better be ready this time.

Not a prediction because I haven't watched MSU but maybe they're just a soft team and that's how they're going to play more often than not 🤷‍♂️.

I remember a team just like this that. Us. Last year. We got very publicly chewed out. Never seemed to help.

Mady Slug-Face-O better watch his P's and Q's or the Doctor will carve off his arms and render him a limbless torso with no redeeming characteristics..........I say carve on Doctor , carve on.................I really really do.................

Slug-Face-O's backup has the narrowest head I have ever seen on an athlete........

maybe it's my eyes but that seems really really narrow..........it really really does...............

really curious to see if Izzo sticks Cissoko on Ty, and how we counter if so. Love Ty, hate to see him look unplayable, but having a nonshooter as our point guard eliminates the advantage we give ourselves by playing a shooting 5 man instead of Dainja.

I would say 'no way that happens' but I said that all season and Purdue finally did it (and was successful with it) and I had to take a giant message board L on that one. Reason I have said all season that teams can't play him like that is because Ty will just attack. He didn't do that against the 7-4 guy, so it worked. I'll be eager to see how MSU wants to guard Ty in half court.
