Attack how? He can’t shoot, so they’ll sag off, and then he had to finish over a center once he drives.

My guess is other teams did not do this because they do not have a player like Edey. Ty is 6-6 with a 7 foot wingspan and also can jump extremely well, so in my opinion this isn't the same as when we saw teams play Jaylon Tate or Chester Frazier this way several years ago. Ty has more size, length and athletic ability.

So, my thought was: I'm guessing if they try this with a 6-10 guy that he'd simply attack the rim. But, a 7-4 guy, nope. That's why I said it will be interesting if MSU tries to play him that way, because so far, really the only team we've seen do this with success is Purdue.

Even if he does put Cissoko on Ty he is no where near the paint presence as Edey. If any other team can take advantage of Ty in that way it would surprise me.

Bigger issue is Ty has to learn to hit the wide open 15 footer even if it is a set shot. He is nailing his free throws so I think it is coming soon!

Could use the same strategy if he was playing the 4, or the 3, etc.

I’m very worried about this one. MSU got manhandled by NW, they will be charged up, desperate on the road. The Shannon soap ppera has to be a little bit of a distraction. I think we drop this one, unfortunately.

I'll take him taking them confidently to start. If he goes 0-7, but they are within the offense and shot with confidence, I'm good. I set the bar that low, just because he doesn't even bother to look at the rim at this point. That has to change.

I can't imagine that BU is advocating for him to pass those up?

Simply put, I have no idea what to expect tomorrow night. Nevertheless, we have seen a team that has been there every night with effort, defense, unselfish team play, and someone able to score. Having an "old team" of veterans is a huge plus that leads to consistency of this ilk. '

Whether DD or Amani will play a significant role, or if Amani plays at all, is the biggest question for this game? One or both will be needed. If Amani is even available is a mystery. DGL needs to play and take good shots, not turn the ball over, and play smart defense without getting burned a time or two.

Winning this game will not be an easy task regardless....but it is critical for many reasons. What I want is to see this team use their strengths, shoot it well, and the win should not be a problem.

Ty or any PG should be able to take and hit a 15 ft jump shot at a decent rate. If they sag off and Ty goes down low vs Cissoko I do not feel he has an advatage at the rim. Ty isn't a player that blows by guys when he goes to the rim, he won't take shots outside a few feet and BU will likely not have any sets run for him vs Cissoko or any team that puts a big on him.
Ty has improved from the FT line now he has to knock down open shots. While he still will play his PT will go down in favor if Harmon or others vs teams that do what Purdue did putting a big on him.He just must get some form of a mid range game and make teams guard him.

Working with the evidence we have, I expect otherwise and that MSU will simply guard Ty straight up like the other 13 teams we've played, sans Purdue. Though I completely agree that this becomes a pretty huge problem if other teams are able to effectively employ this type of defense when Ty is in the game.

Yes I agree. Didn't really mean other teams can't take advantage of Ty's limited shooting range. More that they just won't be able to take it to the level that Purdue can with Edey on him.

I think the article with video that was posted in the last week that showed how UCONN overcame obstacles for their non shooting PG last year is the answer. (Also brings about memories of Ben Simmons trying to be useful in the playoffs). Basically, put him in the short corner area or “dunker” spot. This works because they’re athletic dudes who can catch an oop or one dribble dunk.

I don't understand how someone so good at basketball who has played as much as he has doesn't have a jump shot from 15 feet. He isn't a 7 ft big. How did he go through high school and one year of college without someone locking him in a gym and forcing him to learn to hit it from the elbow. Not trying to be mean, just genuinely curious.
