I just went through the last 3 minutes of game logs of the entire schedule. Limited myself to games decided by 10 points or less because we're only talking about reasonably close games here.

Yesterday's turnover with 1:42 remaining was his FIRST TURNOVER ALL SEASON in the final 3 minutes of a game decided by 10 points or less.

In the process of doing that research, I sure did have to weed through a lot of "Marcus Domask made free throw" and "Marcus Domask made jump shot" and "Marcus Domask made layup" though.
First rate post! I love the original research.

Research like this is what makes a fan board worth reading.

How dare you disprove anecdotal evidence with factual statistics!

I do dislike seeing all of the MD hate as far as being a ballhandler. Guy hasn't had more than 2 TOs in a single game in over 3 weeks and he has the ball pretty much every single possession for 37+ minutes. Sometimes, even very very good players turn the ball over, get it stolen, make a bad pass. Fans see a single play and harp on it to the point that they end up framing it as if it is a regular occurrence.

It’s not MD hate as much as BU hate. It’s a simple adjustment. MD bringing the ball up means we get into our set at 18-19 seconds on the shot clock. Letting Ty bring it up with no one is going to be 24-25 on the shot clock.

That, and this team is best when we are playing at a fast pace. Walking the ball up against pressure tends to bog us down.

Team wants to pressure MD? Fine, give it to someone else, and have MD get the ball in the mid post or simply from a handoff/weave after it’s across the line. It’s easier on MD too. Simply coaching adjustment that is being missed.

I was referring specifically about comments regarding turnovers.

I hadnt even seen any mention of what youre talking about. To that point, I agree having the two different styles gives us a change of pace. I think thats why we start out with Ty and then Marcus takes over more and more ball handling duties as the game wears on.

The 88% FT shooting is also why Marcus has the ball at the end of the game.

I think we should win four of the next five for sure. Has Brad won at Maryland since he's been here? I don't think he has.
I hope we win at Maryland and Penn State; those guys really have one coming. But we've seen how the Illini have let us down. They're just not consistent. Just like at MSU, I don't have much confidence. And I'm really pissed off that the Michigan game is on PEACOCK.

This needs to be a bloodbath watching Michigan right now. They are so bad
No reason to expect it won't be. We let them hang with us for a half in AA and then blew them out. The boys will regroup from Saturday and get it done easily.

Even though we helped them out immeasurably with bad plays, I think MSU is still a decent team, and losing to them is not nearly the same as losing to PSU and MD. I'm not saying we win, but we don't need our A game for those two, a solid B should be enough...although I would like to see us hammer them both.

Best place to get my parents tickets for tomorrow’s game? I’ve been in Oz too long so not sure best way to find. Still stubhub? Better places to look? Would love to get them some nice seats for reasonable price.

I think this game gets chippy. A couple techs handed out. They have size, but not enough skill. We see a Moretti sighting.

Illini: 91
Michigan: 72

But the game isn't as close as the score indicates. Let's just get past it with no injuries.

Also Ty's turnover rate per 40 (2.6) is nearly identical to Domask's (2.7). So, especially because of the scoring and free throws, I have no issue having the ball in his hands at the end of games. My only gripe is how it stagnates the offense. That can be solved without replacing the personnel.

I really want to see something from QG soon, he is currently playing like I initially thought he might before the season started. He has been vital to our success as a team. If there is a health concern I’d hope he could get some rest against this Michigan team at home. We need him at his best for the stretch run.

Just watched the last 4 mins (regulation) of the Nebraska game as I was looking for something that may have made Brad uncomfortable with putting Ty in late on Saturday. I think we lose that game if Ty is on the bench. Came up with some massive rebounds that prevented more possessions for Nebraska. Got scored on once only because he was forced to stop the ball in transition and still forced Tominaga (who wasn't his guy) into a circus-y layup. Forced a tough layup against his primary cover on the last possession, which was missed badly but his teammates didn't get a rebound. The rest of Neb's points and all of our offensive issues had nothing to do with him. This cannot happen again.

In the locker room after the Nebraska game, Brad asks the entire team: "Who won the game for us today?"

Everyone shouted: "Ty!!!!"

Definitely perplexed at having Goode in over Rodgers late on Saturday vs MSU. I think we were seeing that skip pass from Coleman across to the other sideline being left wide open and were trying to exploit that, however nobody could make the open look from there anyway (and then we kept going to it after MSU already knew what we were trying to do).

I wonder if he's having trouble sleeping as a new dad, a lot of his issues seem like he's half a beat slow

Is any of this Brad being worried about Goode’s confidence? I really can’t understand the decision without framing it with him trying to keep his confidence up given the very rough game against Nebraska shooting and wanting to get him going a bit more.

I think it is simple Ty needs to be in the game at the end not Goode.

Goode last 7 min MSU game:
1) missed wide open 3 good shot he just missed it
2) missed front end of 1:1
3) 3 fouls all and 1’s
4) 2 Turns

If we really “play like an NBA team” then Luke is a “specialty“ player in that his main role is to make 3 point shots. He should play early in the first half and get 2 “good” looks if he misses them both back to the bench until the second half.

Second half he gets in early he misses his 2 “good” shots he is totally a situational player you use in a situation where you would need a 3.

In the NBA players like him play when they are hot not at winning time given he is not a good defender (too slow), he is not a good free throw shooter, he fouls a lot.
Ty gives you another ball handler, better defense, more second chance points, and at least similar free throw shooter. BU needs to get this figured out soon as he is not helping either player maximize what they do best.
