Without Devito I think we get definitively beaten 24-10. With him it's a 50/50 toss up I think, 21-17 pick it either direction. Personally even though I'll be heading to this game I hope they don't play Devito unless they know he'll be healthy, with very low risk of re-injury. He's too important to this offense to risk his season on one game like this, even if it puts the West division on the line. We want to finish strong down the stretch and put together 9 wins before bowl season.

Why don't you just use the New Post's section of the board?
That way you don't miss any posts from any section of the board
That's how I stay updated on all things Illini

Just watched the replay and I'm thinking the same thing. Tommy has been playing so well, Art just looked bad in comparison, maybe? Art's not a great QB but maybe good enough to beat Minny
The Gophers still gotta score to win. We have yet to give up a TD at home and the Gophers may score some points. However the way our D is playing if they can force some TOs I feel the offense can out score the Gophers this weekend. I certainly hope so since I got six tickets and I'm bringing my three grandsons to their first Illini game.

I definitely agree with holding DeVito out if there is the possibility that the injury is more likely to be a season long issue. With the upcoming bye week, hold him out if necessary. I don’t agree with your score predictions. Without Tommy, I don’t think Illini definitely lose. Will make it a much harder game to win though. But I do applaud your decisiveness. You don’t just predict a loss, but that the score will definitely be 24-10.

Perhaps this is the game to have two back sets. Chase and Josh. Perhaps a tight end in the backfield to be lead blocker for either Chase or Josh. Downfield passing, the kind that Art is pretty good at. Glue the football to Art's jersey and send him on an occasional run. As others have said, play to Art's strengths.

When should we expect actual news on Tommy's status for next week?

I predict Art throws for 300 yards and rushes for another 100. We win 40-3. They get a field goal against our 3rd string defense :)

As badly as I want to beat Minnesota, their health is more important.
The flip side is if TDV can tough it out (and not risk further injury) he gets 2 weeks before he has to play another game.

In that case we need him out there.

Idk ncaa concussion protocol, but if it’s anything like what I’m used to, you have to be symptom free before you can even start the return to play process.

Usually it’s something like

1) symptom free for 24 hours/passing concussion tests
2) cardio work (running/biking), and no symptoms for 24 hours
3) non contact practice drills, and no symptoms for 24 hours
4) full contact practice, and no symptoms for 24 hours
5) cleared

So even in the cleanest of worlds, we’re brushing right up against game day. Interestingly enough, the fact that we played a night game last week and a morning game this week costs our guys 8 hours of recovery time, which could be enough to prevent them from getting cleared anyway.

I do not get this love for the Gophers. Granted, without their star RB, they lost to a average Purdue team. Iowa‘s front 7 are better and we started opening holes in the 2nd half. Minny is a top 25 team but they are not a 4 point favorite on us at home. I believe Lunny will come up with a game plan to win.Our D will suffocate them. I see a 20-13 Illini win.

How good are they? Look who they’ve beaten - Colorado 0-5, New Mexico State 1-5, Western Illinois 0-5, MSU 2-4. They may be as good as advertised but do we really know yet? Illinois will be by far the best defense they’ve faced.
