100%. Minny will be here for revenge. We are going to find out just how good our D is...again....and we might have to win In Spite Of our QB...again.

But something tells me if TDV can wrap it up and not risk further damage....a "pocket only"...limited TDV is still the best option. Even if he can only go for one half.
We need to get revenge on them. In 1924 they tried to (maybe did) purposefully hurt Red Grange. Zuppke refused to play them the rest of his career although they did play in Zuppke’s last season - 1941. That 1941 team lost to them however - so we totally owe them. Beat them for Zuppke and Grange!!!

Put that on the locker room wall!

I believe Lunney has a specific game plan tailored for Art already prepared because quarterbacks get hurt and this is not going to cause him to start scrambling to put together a strategy. That is what good coaches do! There are plays that we will probably see that are designed around his skill set and the available personnel that have already been worked on earlier in camp. They will dust them off and spend the next 5 days fine tuning them and we will be successful. My biggest concern is maintaining drives so that our D isn't on the field any longer than necessary and subsequently they get worn down.

Agreed. As big as Art getting 1st team reps this week is the coaches having a full week to prepare a game plan wrapped around Art’s strengths.

Sounds just like those darn Gophers! I can see that you hold a grudge quite well, something I respect a great deal.

Good find, by the way.

According to some, Art doesn't have any strengths.

Looks like he'll be back for Saturday. Let's hope we'll have Josh, too, and maybe TVD

Let's hope Ibrahim plays. Don't want any excuses at this point in the season. Besides, he is fun to watch. It'll be even more fun to watch our D stuff him all night. Stop him for less than 100, less than 50? The challenge is there.

Is that why the line has ballooned to Minny -6.5? Or do insiders know something we don't about TDV and IW?

(It's probably both)

Nice! Tremendous athlete and at this point of our season I want all the smoke from all our foes. After witnessing our defense bully the heck out of Wisconsin in their own backyard I welcome the challenge.
Bring it on rodents!

GO ILLINI!

Just a reminder....we beat #7 Penn St. last year...in spite of Art (8/19 38yds). We also beat #20 Minny .... @Minny......in spite of Brandon Peters (7/9 80 yds).

No way we are out of this game if TDV can't go. No way.
Exactly. It is pretty disheartening how many “loyal” fans are writing off this game if TDV can’t go. Illini just beat Iowa with Art playing most of the game. Was it pretty? No, but they won. Those two wins last year you cite happened with Petersen as OC. I really need to read this board closer because I missed all the Petersen is a better OC than Lunney posts. And in those two wins, you know what was missing — this year’s D.

Illini can definitely win Saturday with Art at QB. It may not be easy and probably won’t be pretty, but they can win.

Could we get another coach fired if we beat them with a PWO QB?? :ROFLMAO:

Get yer' life jacket on PJ!!
That's what I say!
If BB can throw out a redshirt freshman to kick 3 field goals to win the game, why not do the same at the QB position? What's the big deal?

I do not get this love for the Gophers. Granted, without their star RB, they lost to a average Purdue team. Iowa‘s front 7 are better and we started opening holes in the 2nd half. Minny is a top 25 team but they are not a 4 point favorite on us at home. I believe Lunny will come up with a game plan to win.Our D will suffocate them. I see a 20-13 Illini win.
I think we were battered this week while Minnesota has had the luxury of healing up and prepping us well. We are probably going to be missing one of our best players against probably the best team we've played to this point. I wouldn't rule anything out, but I won't be too upset about being 5-2 myself if that happens.

I'll say if Lunney lets Chase run more and makes Sitkowski throw less like we saw down the stretch in the 4th I bet things will go better.

They lost to Purdue without Ibrahim. He's back for us. And their offense is better than Iowa's.

Defensively, their stats are also better than Iowa's (and essentially as good as ours: no. 1 in the nation in total defense and 3d down conversion defense, no. 2 in scoring defense, first downs defense, and passing yards allowed, no. 6 in rushing defense, no. 4 in passing efficiency defense.)

With no DeVito, I don't have confidence that our offense is going to get to double digits.

We did beat them last year at their place Ibrahim in, of course, but I could see another 9-6 type game.

I'll be there, and have an intuition that our D will finally get that pick 6.
