Many moons ago in 2020 Ibrahim played us in Champaign and had 200+ rushing yards and 4 TDs against us. Need to stop Ibrahim and make Tanner Morgan beat us. Same thing Minnesota is saying about us for stopping Brown and making Tommy/Art beat Minnesota.

The more I think about it the more it pisses me off that we are the odds underdog at home against an unranked team when we are now ranked for the first time in forever. I doubt the team pays attention to that kind of stuff but I kind of hope someone let's them know to add some fuel to the fire.

17-10 Illini win. Pick six late 4qt. by the D seals the game. Art throws for just under 200 yards with a pick. Brown and Love combine for 180 yards on the ground. We see multiple sets including the BARGE early in the 3rd quarter for shock and awe.

it’s not
Art beat Iowa

it’s
Art didn’t lose to Iowa

huge difference
Hoping with a week of practice with the 1st team and given a full week to game plan Lunney comes up with something the Gophers are not expecting at all. The D does it's thing and we annouce we are back to stay with a victory with our backup QB to be boot...hey one can dream it is after all the month of ghosts and goblins!!

Art doesn't have to be great. He doesn't have to be DeVito-level. But he has to be significantly better than he was on Saturday. Does he have it in him? I think so, but who knows? A week with the ones should help a lot.

This isn't exactly novel, but if our O can't pass, we're in trouble. If Art is competent, we'll be able to move the ball on them.

I can respect your take but I am not bullish on Sitkowski.

We have to limit the playbook with Art in the game. Honestly with the INT last week and almost turnover that would have cost us the game we got real lucky. It would have got real ugly in this forum. Illinois has to find a way to be aggressive without Sitkowski turning the ball over. Screens, shovel pass, heck even throw Brown in a Wildcat formation few times a game if Art is the QB. I have no problem if Art can manage the game he just can't force anything and Lunney has to find a creative way to move the chains with a less talented QB. Hopefully the run game and D can carry us whether it is Art or Tommy this week.

All this offense turns into is screen passes... it's gotta stop.

I got that text from my friend. I made the mistake of telling her to buy tickets early, thinking the prices would go up 🤦🏼‍♀️
Three things:

1. Unless you're buying on Stub Hub or a comparable service, I don't think prices will ever go up in the week (or two) leading up to the game. I don't believe the University would/could ever do that. (The only exception is once a deal expires, tickets may return to regular prices.)

2. I believe that people typically pay what they can afford. Over the course of a lifetime, things will even out for us all.

3. On top of all that, you normally get better seat choices when you buy early.

Watched the Purdue vs Minny Highlights and saw a lot of missed tackles by Minnesota. Purdue also ran for 160 yards and don't have a Heisman candidate for running back.... Just saying I think we can move the ball on them as long as Art can make just a throw or two on each drive. Illini 24 Minny 10

It will come down to turnovers. Art will hit a few big plays that will lead to scores. The question is how many points will he give Minnesota? If he plays turnover free I think we win.

Yep. Even with Tommy under center, Lunney calls a lot of very very short passes. When it's 3rd and 8, a pass to a receiver behind the LOS isn't going to get the desired result and it drives me mad. Maybe it's a personnel thing, maybe it's just a Lunney thing, but it makes for very, very frustrating 3rd downs.

I've said it before--we could have an interesting playbook with some 2 back sets, whether it's Brown/McCray, Brown/Love, McCray/Love, etc. So much potential for misdirection, putting guys in motion, maybe a little trickeration.

Well, the play calling tells me a lot. Art through laterally mostly. WR screens. Most of which failed because it was so readable. They will need to get more creative and of course we know we will run the ball well. ILL!
I agree with Yukon. As a long time sports fan I have come to the conclusion that coaches at all levels out-think themselves. It is like calling a pass play, just needing one score, with time running down and a good running game. The result, an interception, and a near crisis. We did it and to our benefit, Iowa did it when they were moving the ball on the ground. Go Illini!

I wonder if Bielema is playing his cards close to the vest. He makes a general statement that our hurt players might not be ready for the game, but should be ready by the bye week. Now Minnesota has to game plan for both QB's , but in reality we have DeVeto behind center. Just my optimistic attitude coming out. It's probably just wishful thinking.

But Tommy seems to be able to find and hit a lot of short passes over the middle (which seems miraculous to me.)

Depends on who is out there. I am a more traditional screen guy to the RB or Draw in certain situations. I know that is not what we do as much. If you have Art in and IW out we are going vanilla on offense. Just have to find ways to be more creative which was mentioned in the whole paragraph I wrote before.

It was also a concern about demand if we were to beat Iowa. Either way, it's a minor annoyance

I have that same sneaky suspicion. I thought I detected a smile on his face when he said there was doubt about whether those guys would be back.
