Interesting,...the houses of split alums. My youngest daughter is a Mizzou alum. She likely has no idea there is a game between the Illini and Mizzou....in any year!! She likely is just hoping Mizzou does not lose by more than 20.

As for me, my fondest hope is the Illini come out and match the passion, energy, and effort that we know the Tigers seem to bring to this game every year. I do not expect the Illini to dominate any facet of the game, but hope they can take care of the ball and beat Mizzou in some way in every facet of the game. We have no idea if anyone on either team will hit shots and therefore no one can predict who will score the most points. But, keep in mind, if they do not score they can't win!! Defense...defense...defense.

Vegas Today:
Illini -14 (I'm shocked)
O/U = 140 pts

Both teams defeated Lindenwood by 30. Mizzou hits 50% from the field, which means they'll probably jump out to another early 12 pt lead in the first 10 minutes. Statistically, however, our defense is much stronger --- and against a much, much tougher schedule. Just hope we can avoid an early offensive drought, and I don't want FT's to become a factor in the last 4-5 minutes of the game.

74 ILL
70 MIZ

We'll need some team chemistry on display in this one.

Good luck to everyone fortunate enough to see it in person!!

Would be surprised to see them move the game....both teams should be in St. Louis before bad weather hits...they might adjust the start time to help with fans traveling...but who knows.....been to several Braggin Rights games....my all time favorite is 1988...Kenny Battle leading an Illinois coming back win that was capped with a thunderous Kendal Gill dunk....and set the tone for a great run by the flyin Illini...lots of fun!

The Illini ladies game was on the sec network....the halftime report was a JOKE..........announcers of the game were as homer as Brian B. and Deon
TO BE FAIR........

I sorta think the entire crew at the SEC Network is paid to be pro-SEC. (Same thing for BTN.) 99+% of the viewing audience is tuning-in to watch the conference team.

Yes, I watched portions of that half-time show myself. I was there only to get my first glimpse of our Illini women's team for the first time in 25 years. Color me impressed, btw!!!

I am expecting a close game that will require the Illini to be on top of their game....no 6-8 minute scoring drought....limit TO's (keep it under 10)....win the rebounding game, limit them to 1 and done....make FT (like 70-75%) especially down the stretch.....looking at Mizzo's roster, with several Grad students and seniors... they probably will have the veteran presence (experience) advantage....hopefully our talent and defensive pressure will wear them down and we can pull away in the final 3-4 minutes for a double digit win

In the Spirit of the Holiday Season...

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But Braggin’ Rights? Delightful!
And since we've no place to go
Let’s All Go! Let’s Go! Let It Snow!

Don't show signs of stoppin’
But Tres’ are all a’droppin’
Mizzou is down so low
Let’s Go! Let’s Go! Get Some Mo’!

When we finally take home the win
Oh what fun it’s been
And though we’re in that storm
Going home we still be warm

Though the fire is slowly dying
Illini are still Flyin’
And since we love them so
Let It Snow! Orange Go! Orange Glow!

I remember attending bragging rights game in Checkerdome in 1989. #6 Flying Illini. #10 Missouri got off to early lead and we pressed full court entire game.

Stadium was 50% Illini and 50% Missouri. Students were home for winter break, both bands were there. The noise was non stop.

When we won this one - it was the first hint that we had something special.

okay, that was hilarious. reality check. let's play some lockdown defense and try to stay out of foul trouble. offensively, let's try and play fast and loose for a change; let's try to have FUN. the kids look like they've been twisted into knots mentally and played tight the last couple games. they really just need to relax on O. and we better drive to the bucket and get them in foul trouble because 80% of our team never misses a free throw 50% of the time. we aren't going to get points at the charity stripe so we better foul one or two players out. hope Hawkins and Melendez have a game with Shannon and Mayer putting up points. and I hope Harris is feeling better. Yep, sounds like traveling through the state might still be treacherous on Friday. Here's the latest on the winter storm watch for here in Champaign.

Nothing to do with game, but in part from what I started seeing in this thread I’ve decided to leave Saturday rather than Friday for my trip home for the holidays — Columbus, OH to Rockford, but actually drive through Champaign on way to Normal and then head north. I found that though this route is more miles, it is usually faster and less stressful than going through Chicago.

Bummer, the weather is getting real bad. I am afraid to make the drive to St. Louis tomorrow. It will be the first time I have missed a game in person in 33 years (not counting 2020, covid year). On top of that the game is not televised since we don't have the SEC channel. What are others doing who can't get there because of weather.
