Came here to say this. Missouri getting a win against a power 5 will have their confidence up, so we better be ready. But I have a feeling that Trent, DMW, Kofi and Grandi will be extra fired up to bring it to Miznoz.
Couple of takeaways from their victory over Utah....
-Miz had 16 off reb.
-Miz won overall rebounds 41-33
- Miz only had 6 turnovers
-Miz ~20% from 3 ...4/21
-Utes... 40% 3p shooting (10/25) and still lost.

Kobe brown led Mizzou with 27 points and 6 rebounds in only 25 minutes

We will need to bring our best... victory over Utah may motivate more Mizery fans for game on Wednesday.

Let us dominate Tigers and start our own rivalry win streak!

Fake Nerf gun to your head:

A. Beat Miznoz, end season losing in Sweet 16

B. Lose to Miznoz, end season losing in Final Four

Attention all Smarty Pants: these are the only choices.

Honestly, I want more Mizzou fans to “believe” and snow up on Wednesday. Going to my first Braggin’ Rights Game, and I’d just assume it be a fun atmosphere! Will make it sweeter if we win.

I'm going to be honest, this is not an easy choice for me. Such is my distaste for losing to Mizzou.

I guess I'll go with B because making a Final Four is still beating Mizzou by making another one before they've ever made it once.

If part B would have only been an Elite Eight, I'd have picked A.

Lol, I started to make B the Elite Eight (because "elite") and changed it because A was the obvious choice in that scenario to me too, and I wanted it to be hard.

Choices of a life path determine your future happiness.....losing to misery is NOT a path I choose to walk down .........

And I resent you calling me a smarty pants..........I usually don't wear pants or under garments.......

Having been to 25+ of these games, I would normally expect a close game. But, I think this year is different. I'm thinking we might challenge the 2004 game record win of 32 points. Some would say the triple OT game was the most exciting (mostly Mizzou fans, and def not Kiwane Garris), but for me, it would be hard to beat the 1990 game that had Andy Kaufmann and Doug Smith both going off - AK with 33, DS with 30. Kaufmann took some craaazy shots, no, no, no ... yes! He also ended the game with a bloody jersey thanks to Smith. Years back the two don't miss events in St Louis basketball was this game and the Coca-Cola high school shootout, featuring many future All NBA players from all over the country.

For what it's worth, Utah is missing ~17 rebounds per game due to injury. Three seven footers. Not to mention most teams shooting and clanking lots of threes are going to get a number of long offensive rebounds. That's just how basketball do.

But, yes, we need to bring our best.

Yes, this.

If you watched the St Francis game, this was obvious. Long, wild shots, hit hard off the rim and fly over boxouts sometimes. You can't just look at raw numbers and know the whole story.

Maybe there should be a metric. Sometime like rebounds within 8 feet of the basket.

Next up... set up a yearly game like this with Kentucky. That other border State. No big enough city to hold that one on that other river, so make it a yearly home-and-home trade off. And of course... beat them SOUNDLY.
There is only one reason to play a game with Kentucky. Revenge for poaching. Just one game. Then don't mess with them anymore.

Not to mention Utah's best shooter is wraring an Illini jersey this year. Plummer is ice cold, he strikes me ad a playet that plays better with a bigger stage. I expect a big game from him.

Nationally, nobody talks about our loss to Missouri last year - only Loyola Chicago.

It’s an easy answer, final four, every time. That’s what people remember.

Not really disagreeing....my choice is also FF...but your reply is a national perspective. The question is more for Illini fans....a much different perspective IMO...and therefore not really easy.

A loss in the FF vs. a loss in the Sweet 16 is not all that different. Yes the FF comes with a "banner" and nationally people will remember....but a Sweet 16 in todays CBB world is a hell of a year.

I thought about adding B1G Tournament Champs to "A"..making it more like last year....but alas...just random debate fodder!

For me personally I’ll take a loss to Mizzou every year if it meant we make the FF

I just hope they don't turn this into a dirty, ugly game. It makes me nervous though, because their season is over and they know it. This game and the Kansas game are the 2 important games for them and they just get killed by Kansas so this one means even more to Cuonzo just from a pride point of view. The last thing we need is injuries or suspensions from Mizzou playing dirty or wanting to start a fight. They really have nothing to lose, but we do.

Well if the play gets rough and maybe injuries incur...I want to be on the same team with Kofi and DW......but I get what your saying

Well, as Omar Sharif as Sharif Ali noted in Lawrence of Arabia: "Truly, for some men nothing is written unless THEY write it." I believe that applies to Trent, DMW and the boys. ;) :illinois:
