I've seen a lot of pundits talk (including during the BTT) talk about how this team wouldn't be comfortable playing a slow paces game. I really think they are capable of playing at just about any pace and being successful. Obviously TSJ zooming around the court getting downhill is best case scenario but they've also been very comfortable playing long clock half court possessions with Marcus running the show. They will absolutely take whatever you give them defensively and use it against you.
I agree, also as long as we are rebounding we can dictate the pace. The rebounding is what makes this team hum imo. A lot of people point to how much we struggled when Purdue slowed the pace but I think more of that had to do with TSJ being very hesitant to drive the lane with Edey waiting more than anything.

We need to stop their star and keep everyone else consistent with their averages

We need to make our lay ups minimize unforced errors get the rebounds and keep our starters out of foul trouble

Or as Grandpa used to say, "Time to sh*t or get off the pot!"
My Grandpa used to say, "If you ever find your favorite college basketball team in a first round match-up against Morehead State, they should utilize their superior speed and size to exploit them. Your team's number '0' will want to run downhill all game and draw plenty of fouls. If there is an athletic 4 who sometimes plays the 5, be should take at least four 3 point attempts and have confidence in his shot." He always ended by saying, "Booty ball can win championships."

He told me this in 1987 when I was just a wee little lad. Seems pretty prophetic, now. 🤔

YouTube TV is a great option. Signed up a few years ago and haven't looked back. Plus, they just introduced customizable multiview where you can choose four games to watch at once. Just in time for the tourney. Not the cheapest but (IMHO) worth it.
Oh wow. I’ve been loving the multiview and didn’t see you can now configure it yourself. That’s going to be awesome.

I love You Tube TV. Especially how I can just subscribe for 4 months and then cancel it. I don't need it outside of college basketball season. Works awesome.

For such a slow-paced team, I'm surprised at how often turn it over. That is one thing the Illini defense does well. If Illinois wins going away, I suspect there will be a lot of turnovers and easy transition buckets that don't let their defense get set.
I'm not so sure about Illinois forcing many turnovers. Sadly, we're 360/362 in the nation in opponent's turnover rate (link) at 10.8%. Some of that is because Big Ten opponents don't turn the ball over much, but even among Big Ten teams, we're far below the middle of the pack, which is around 14%.

Not sure of a nickname for TSJ yet - maybe the Flash. But Domask is Captain America.
Nope, wrong comic universe..... lol. Though I can absolutely see him as Captain America!

EDIT: I sincerely apologize for not remembering, and giving credit to, whomever it was that posted that pic on IL.

Not saying we should take Morehead St or Duquesne lightly.... But in a scenario like this does the team spend any time prepping for BYU?

The multi box viewing is absolutely magical. It can also be fun for college football games too.

Watch a lot of film on all three know who can shoot and try really hard to stop going under on screen and roll. Who demands a switch who you follow through picks and who you trap. Know before the game if Harmon or Dainja would match up better personnel wise. Know how many guys you can send after offensive rebounds and still avoid fast breaks.

The nice thing about Illinois is Shannon can’t be left alone which eliminates their best defender. Domask gets their #2 leaving Hawkins, Ty, and Quincy isolated to get rebounds and open shots. The biggest key is winning on the glass, on turn-overs and no dumb fouls.

Brad accepts that his early years of trying to force a lot of turnovers didn't work, so he doesn't bother with it anymore (unless we're down +15 or so with less than 2 minutes left)

I would imagine that each of the three teams gets an assistant who develops a scouting report, and then if Illinois wins tomorrow they take the scouting report and get to work prepping as soon as they get back to the hotel on Thursday afternoon.

I love it. I want everyone picking against us.
Sleepers Media went cold on us after we lost to Purdue. They picked Wisconsin in the Big championship. Both Cart and Greg.

My bad. I read the stats wrong there.

Good chance to go listen to Brad yell! Jk it’ll just be the shoot around portion pretty much
Is this just something to help get the guys amped up seeing the amount of fans they will have? Obviously, Illini fans typically travel well, just wasn't sure if this was the play here.
