Not sure if that line is respect for us or total lack of belief in Nebraska.

I suspect we've got a real shot at winning if the game is played at a Bielema pace. If Nebraska gets 90+ plays off we're gonna get destroyed.

Heard today that ticket sales are "in the 30s". Fewer than 1k Cornhuskers.
Towards Frost it seems that Husker fans may be feeling a bit… frosty.

I thought when season tickets and single game tickets became available, they said 70% of seats had already been purchased within a few days. Not sure why that number sticks out to me.
BRucks has to be talking about single game tickets. Add 20k (?) for season tickets, you'd be at 70% pretty easily, especially if they are blocking off the corners.

The ticket side of the website shows no sections with "many" tickets remaining, and not as many with "medium" as I would have thought if only 30k-ish would be there.

Have they announced they will block off the corners? Not a bad idea until the team starts having some success. It was embarrassing to watch the replay of the 2014 Penn State game this week. Partly because Beckman was on the sideline, but also to see how dead it was at the stadium. There might have been 25k people there.

May I ask what “blocking off the corners” means? I assume they will be closing some sections. But which sections constitute “corners”?

I bought tickets a couple weeks ago and it didn't look like there were 30,000 seats left. I also dont know how one could tell how many are husker fans since you dont have to register as a husker fan when you buy them. From the looks of Twitter it seems there will be a large number of husker fans

My heart says the Bielema era will start with a 34-20 victory, my brain says it will be a disappointing 20-34 loss, and my gut says I dont have the slightest clue what expect.

The sections next to the towers.

Have they announced they will block off the corners?
I didn't see an announcement, but checking seat availability, unless sitting by the towers has become THE place for season ticket holders (easier exit in case of calamity?), they appear blocked off until ticket demand is there.

We pounded Nebraska in Lincoln last year. Are they expected to be much better this year?
Luke McCaffrey left the team, so I think so.

However, Adrian Martinez won't have Lovie Smith's defense to light up.

Also remember that Illinois got a lot of beneficial calls and NOTHING was reviewed until well into the third quarter.

I wouldn't take last year's game too much into consideration. Should be a good game, though.

Nebraska hasn’t played up to their talent level since Frost has been there. The question is if this year will be different. Im betting Bielema can out coach Frost by enough to win. The negative is this will be our first game in all new systems and are the players comfortable enough to execute everything?

How many super seniors does nebby have?
We have a bunch so maybe that'll be important considering it's the first game?

That was really disheartening to hear. New coach, opening against a conference division foe in a winnable game in week 0... if there's not at least 50k in attendance, I'll be really bummed.

I can think of a pretty good reason why attendance will be low. Are we pretending that the pandemic isn’t on peoples’ minds?

I’ve had season tickets for 15+ years, and we’ll be back again this year, but it was a very serious conversation my family (7 of us in total) had. We debated for a long time before deciding to renew. For every two or three families that DO decide to come back, there will be one that doesn’t.

This year, regardless of performance or storylines, will still be clouded by COVID. Let’s not downplay that.

All of that said, if Illinois were to start 3-0 or 4-0, I do think single game tickets will start selling regardless. Right now, though, “new coach”, “conference opponent”, or even first game of the season don’t hold the same sway they would have in a “normal” year.

Sucks for BB, because you’re right, those ARE exciting things. I don’t want to take away from that either.
