I think there will be 50,000 there, but I'm not too fond of the idea of blocking off the corners and cramming in the 50k to make it look full when the delta variant is surging, even in reality using the full stadium to "space" out the 50k probably wouldn't make a difference. Either way I'll be there.

Honestly, I kind of thought the fact that Illinois usually only has about 30k in the stands for a game would have been a huge advantage for them had fans been allowed last year. I mean, the reality comes at the expense of Illinois, but you get the point.

I'm with you. I think in future years, blocking off the corners, if necessary, makes a lot of sense (heartbreaking sense...). However, for this year, I think it would make sense to spread people out and call it a "protocol". But, I'm also an overly pessimistic person. So there's that. :ROFLMAO:

I can think of a pretty good reason why attendance will be low. Are we pretending that the pandemic isn’t on peoples’ minds?

I’ve had season tickets for 15+ years, and we’ll be back again this year, but it was a very serious conversation my family (7 of us in total) had. We debated for a long time before deciding to renew. For every two or three families that DO decide to come back, there will be one that doesn’t.

This year, regardless of performance or storylines, will still be clouded by COVID. Let’s not downplay that.

All of that said, if Illinois were to start 3-0 or 4-0, I do think single game tickets will start selling regardless. Right now, though, “new coach”, “conference opponent”, or even first game of the season don’t hold the same sway they would have in a “normal” year.

Sucks for BB, because you’re right, those ARE exciting things. I don’t want to take away from that either.
Do you think covid will keep Ohio State or Clemson from selling out?

We aren’t Ohio state or Clemson….we are Illinois. I still love going to games and would if I was closer. Covid is out there but I’ve been to large gatherings (baseball games) and have felt totally safe. This new coaching staff needs our support. We have a solid fan base and need to show out for this. Also, Neb is annoying and I love to watch them lose 😂

I think we are going to have over 50,000 in the stands. Would love to see the whole student section completely filled. It looks good for TV and you get the noise at that part of the field. Can't wait for the game. Yes OSU and Clemson will still sell out. So would Neb.

Huge game for the Illinois Football Program. I will be there with our crew of 6, who had paid money to watch this game in Ireland. So instead of hitting the pubs and pregame party in Dublin, we’ll be in Grange Grove for the Illiniwalk and pregame festivities. Every Illini fan who can possibly make it should be there to show support and appreciation for those super seniors who had few (if any) fans in the stands as well as this new coaching staff. :illinois:-L-L

When will the info come out about Game Day Experience? Watch the ILLINIWALK, walk around Grange Grove. If the game is at noon the gates should open about 10:30am. Go ILLINI!

The Illiniwalk will go from the Smith Center through Grange Grove. Will be entertainment in Grange Grove, autographs, tailgating etc.

I believe I read players will take bus from Smith Center to Grange Grove and walk through the Grove to stadium. Shortened a lot. Seems ok strategy to me.

Wow! $65 for horseshoe tickets on Dad's day? I got a whole season for $60 back in the Zook run. I may go with scalpers, stubhub, etc.

Can't get over how little discussion there is on the football side of this board. I guess with the media shutout, probably to be expected.

Looking forward to see how we come out of the gate against Nebby

Yeah other than BB’s interviews, which are good but not very revealing, there isn’t much actually known. Anxious to hear who’s moving up and down the depth charts. He did say they are live tackling which is good. I’m looking forward to a lot fewer missed tackles and blown coverages this year.

Anyone help me out for this game? I got a bunch of tickets for my family but have never parked for a football game. Is there an official way to purchase a pass/ can I just get into a lot day of/ should I just buy a pass from stubhub?

Thanks in advance

Just seconding but even for a struggling program that really is a great deal. If I was in the area I’d easily take advantage
