So cool that I felt compelled to fact check it! (True!)Actually, the only horse to ever beat Man o' War in 21 races was named Upset.

That's Hells Bells by AC/DC.People were talking about defensive 3rd downs earlier, but since I didn't see anyone actually give the right answer, I'll tune in. Until USC, it was the bells thing (sounded like "Whom the Bells Toll" but never got to the guitar riff), but for Homecoming, they started using what I think was the Blackhawks goal horn. It definitely seemed to get more volume built up than the bells ever did, but the crowd still only sometimes took the extra step in volume. 3rd down or not, sometimes the center 5 or so sections in the east and west main seem pretty reluctant to get up and cheer, no matter what is done to encourage it, so idk if there's really anything better than the DIA could actually do.
As for the celebrity vids, they're just for general "get loud" moments, so they're usually used later in the game or when the crowd isn't doing it on its own (which I could easily rant about, but won't rn lol). They're just in place of the generic "volume meters" everyone uses at every level. Everyone uses them, even schools that don't need them, and the celeb vids are at least more interesting than the generic ones.
I would say QB. I know there can be some disagreement, but I will take Luke 10/10 times.I disagree. If that final score is under 20 points, we likely played our second best game of the year to make that happen. At the end of the day, what this teams needs is progress, so I'd be ecstatic.
I don't know if there's one position Illinois has a true advantage at over Ohio State (other than kicker). The main key is to come out of healthy into the first bye week.
We’re having a great season. I’m with you. Enjoy the fall sunshine, family and friends and the game. It’s fun to watch Illini football again, every week. I’m grateful for that. It’s icing on the cake that is affiliation with the university and the C-U area.I’m with you. I’ve had more fun watching Illinois football in the last three years than I’ve probably had in the last 23 years.
I just don’t get into all the analyzing and agonizing and hand wringing and predictions over something I have no control over anyway.
I’ll be there Saturday, and we’ll have two grandkids in tow, ages 8 and 12. They don’t know who Ohio St. is or even care. They don’t understand bowl games or the CFP or 3rd down conversion percentage. They love going to games and being in the exciting atmosphere of live college sports. And they like the Illini because I do.
Win or lose we’ll be back home by 5:00 and the grill will be lit and we’ll have a great fall Saturday night with family. The beer might taste better after beating the #1 team in the country, but life will go on.
Maybe I’m in the minority or just old fashioned but the FamILLy motto rings true for me, and that’s more important and lasting than any win-loss record or bowl game bid.
Just enjoy the ride and whatever happens, happens.
How about some (local band) REO Speedwagon? E.g., "Roll with the Changes"People were talking about defensive 3rd downs earlier, but since I didn't see anyone actually give the right answer, I'll tune in. Well, I can't say I'm not guilty of yelling at the TV, I might have even blamed the dog a time or two during the Indiana game. But I try to keep things in perspective. What a difference a couple decades of wisdom makes. I'm 28 and I yell at my tv when we lose.
Yes, you're right, I forgot about the bells, it is from Hell's Bells.People were talking about defensive 3rd downs earlier, but since I didn't see anyone actually give the right answer, I'll tune in. Agreed. Our section (103) was standing for almost the entire 1st quarter during action. The same was true in the 4th quarter. That has not always been the case but was awesome to see!Yes, you're right, I forgot about the bells, it is from Hell's Bells.
I feel like this year there are more people standing longer and more often than in the past couple years, that's an improvement, I think. The noise may not be there yet but hopefully that will get better.
I prefer the Bells over the Goal Horn sound, myself!People were talking about defensive 3rd downs earlier, but since I didn't see anyone actually give the right answer, I'll tune in. The number of points is skewed due to the Indiana game. Not saying our defense has been great, or even very good, but that one ridiculous game puts that number a bit out-of-whack. Still, I have to agree that we are certainly not stopping opponents from scoring on us.This is possible but it is best case scenario. First, we are giving up over 40 points per game vs big ten opponents and OSU is the #1 team in the country. Holding them to 27 or fewer would be a significant improvement defensively. Second, they have allowed 25 points TOTAL in 5 games and no one has reached 10 points. If we score 21+ then that’s impressive.
I’m most looking forward to this on Saturday. Bielema almost pleading here for a home crowd to create a good atmosphere.
Going to the Purdue game I was really impressed with the way they got their crowd into the game. I was told by a Purdue fan that their band is mic’d up, and I believe it. The band was very loud, even when the crowd was loud you could still hear them. There are times sitting near the south end at Memorial Stadium when the crowd is loud you can’t hear our band at all.
There was a kind of a buzz all day, even in the second half down by two scores, there was energy that I don’t think we always have.
Their music selections during some of the stoppages I thought were much better than we get at home. And I think their overall sound system is better.
I could definitely do without that damn train horn every two minutes, but it worked to get them fired up. I think we could take some lessons from them.
You didn't get enough (cow)bells from the Mississippi State game a couple years ago?I prefer the Bells over the Goal Horn sound, myself!
Gives me the chills.
After the game, PJ Fleck said that was the best defense he’s ever seen. Not sure who's watched them, but OSU to my eyes is the best team in the country. Will be an epic takedown. Shades of 2001
at least they have an identity. What is Illinois' identity when it comes to gameday atmosphere and fan involvement? We have to establish something to take the next step in my opinion. Some programs have awesome entrances, tailgate experiences, light shows, drone shows, jump around, etc...You didn't get enough (cow)bells from the Mississippi State game a couple years ago?

Could we get their QB to get a DUI 2 nights before game time & suspended like Bellisari was in 2001? That'd help. Not sure who's watched them, but OSU to my eyes is the best team in the country. Will be an epic takedown. Shades of 2001
Wait you don’t like the same playlist from 10 years ago with bad songs from 10 years before that? The Red Grange race is kind of cool if you are in the stadium but totally agree with the need of something unique. Maybe someone could do a dance at midfield at halftime. That would be cool and unique.at least they have an identity. What is Illinois' identity when it comes to gameday atmosphere and fan involvement?
We currently have nothing to hang our hat on and it doesn't seem that the gameday experience personnel are trying anything new. The entrance is lame, the air raid siren to start the game and half is lame and the tailgate experience is sub par unless your donate or pay out the a$$ to be in one of the premier lots.

“Trust me I am not bashing our program/experience”
