I'm thinking about ice cream? At 10 am? I think that just means I'm fat.
Funny. I’ve been thinking about this ice cream bar in my freezer since noon and i’ve resisted it for 3 hours now. How long can i hold out.

Current weather forecast for the opener is quite good

Also, ESPN this morning listing Illini -46.5 on their book.
They must've seen my prediction (47-7)

Wanna know a secret? I don’t want JC Davis to play in the Western Illinois game. He’s got plantar fascia issues which are an overuse thing. He’s already got chemistry on the line, I’m really not worried about reps before Duke as much as I am him aggravating it in a useless FCS game. Let Dezmond Schuster show what he’s got and find out who can fill in there so, in case that flares up, we aren’t figuring it out against Indiana or USC

Was looking through the week 0 & week 1 lines and it looks like Illinois is the heaviest favorite across all games currently posted (Penn state is next at -44.5). I know we are playing WIU, and there is still time for these lines to move, but when was the last time Illinois was laying the most points across a whole slate of games?

I've been trying to decide if I should bet on WIU to cover... that's a lot of points. I envision something like 28-0 at the half and Luke is done for the day. Does the 2nd half get sloppy? With Hampton's experience, he might keep things rolling. Indiana beat them 77-3 last year, but IMO our team amd play style isn't designed to go crazy like that.

Any other opinions on this game from a betting perspective?

I agree with your comment, now bolded. Just can't see us winning by 74 points (like Indiana did last year) or anything close to it. But then again, 46.5 is quite a bit different.

Bottom-line, I side with you. I'd place a conservative bet on WIU to cover. Mega wins in football = not our style.

We won a couple of games last year, Purdue and Rutgers most notably, that were fairly miraculous comebacks. If the odds would have held, we're 7-5 instead of 9-3.

This is not going to be a dominant team. We weren't last year. We found a way to win some toss ups. We're going to be in a similar situation this year. The difference between 7-5 and 9-3 is razor thin for this group.

With all due respect to last year and this year's returners......we haven't been good enough for long enough to not worry about games, especially road games.

I felt great about Purdue at home and Rutgers on the road prior to kickoff. We won, but I aged 10 years because of it. Those two minor miracles put us as 9-3 versus 7-5. A lot went out way last year. For this team, the difference between 7-5 and 9-3 is razor thin.

Major sucker's bet there. I'm putting some money on WIU and the points. I don't see Illinois running up the score enough to get to a scoreline like 51-3. If the game is in that situation, there will be a LOT of players getting some game experience.

To be clear, I expect Illinois to win and win big. Just not THAT big.

I can see him playing a series or two then sit out as he gets healthy for the Duke game. But if he doesn’t play, that will give Schuster some good reps with the first string line.

I'll push out an updated Sellout Watch tonight, but looks like tickets for next week's game are starting to move. Ticket availability has decreased about ~800 tickets since this time on Monday. There is a 4-pack deal currently active which I'm sure is boosting sales, but I still believe you have a lot of students that didn't get season tickets scrambling to get a seat.

WMU effectively sold out?
Yep, it’s been hovering in that 100-300 range of available tickets all week. They keep releasing a few dozen more as others sell off. I don’t get the sense that there are thousand and thousand being held back yet to hit the site, but idk how many hundreds might still be out there that we can’t see.

Bottom line: it will be a sellout, just a matter of when. I’m sure they are in no hurry to announce it and figure they might as well sell every last ticket they can before they say it’s sold out.

yea, looks like it. Band Day helping as little
and imo, we will sell out all conference games - the NU game the only one in doubt if we are not sitting on 8 or 9 wins at the time
The conference games after OSU depend heavily on our performance, I think.

Rutgers, Maryland, and Northwestern will be helped out tremendously if we find ourselves in a CFP playoff hunt.

I know people will disagree, but I think a 3 game mini plan would be great for those games. $100 for the upper deck would be a great price and fill it up. Their inability to prioritize those upper corners (which are the first things seen on a broadcast) is frustrating. As others have said before, stick the visiting fans in Section 209. They should not get priority seating!

Not sure that is a price point that will sell very well. Upper sideline tickets sold for $100 season tickets. November is such a crap shoots on weather. Only way those will sell well at that price point is if the Illini are in CFP contention in mid to late October, IMO. When it comes to actual butt in seat attendance, the performance of the team will dictate that.
