Just realized this may be the biggest national TV audience for @illinimbb since the 2005 final. The last/only nationally televised game of the regular season before they announce tourney seedings, with all eyes of the college basketball world glued to CBS. A huge opportunity to grow/solidify Illinois’ reputation nationally.

Shocked by the Ohio State all-time performance.

A tribute to Illinois-native Thad Matta (and his sister, who is an acquaintance here in South Carolina). OSU has never really been that good throughout my lifetime -- except for Thad's short-term dominance. Their entire basketball history is essentially two short spurts ---- (1) Oscar Robertson and then (2) Thad Matta 45-50 years later.

The Big O and Cincy kept those OSU teams from taking three consecutive Nattys in 1960-62. Fred Taylor was one of the great, and criminally forgotten, coaches of the 20th century. Other than John Wooden's seven consecutive title game appearances 1967-73 no coach has appeared in three or more consecutive title games since Taylor did it.

If we made 8 championship games, how do we have a 3-4 record?

What about 2021 BTT? Over time with Ohio State in the final.

There's no reason to freak out in the one. Wisconsin can go on a full game heater and it ends up being one of those games.

I'm FAR more concerned with how we come out of the gates. If this is the third game in a row where only TJ shows up.....that's a problem going forward. In a one and done, sometimes done happens. It's how you arrive there that's important. Can't continue to dig holes for ourselves.

If we come out and it's a GREAT game for 40 minutes, I'm good with that. If we come out and we get down 22-10 because of silly decisions and effort....I'm not good with that.

The non-important uni comment: Surely they got those script whites all cleaned last night. We can’t wear the standard whites on this stage for the BTT Title can we? Was all set with the orange against Purdue but Wisky broke that - unless we revisit the famous Red vs Orange that we did against Wisky in the pre-HD days that had people in a fuss.

Anyway, ILL! Hope for contributions from Harmon today - he’s been a bit quiet lately.
