Charlie Brown with Lucy teeing up the ball once again.
Then exposing all of Charlie Brown’s flaws.

I try to be reasonable and optimistic regarding Illini sports , but this game and the pitiful stats of this game has my glass half full leaking big time........

Henry is appearing to NOT be the answer as far as being a competent DC...................
Lunney is appearing to NOT be the answer as far as being a competent OC...........
Our offensive line coach is appearing to NOT be the answer as far as being a competent OLINE coach.........
Ditto for the secondary coach......................
The Special teams coach has been average to above average so far this year................

We give up too many sacks..........
We give up too many tackles for loss.............
We leave way too many opponents receivers wide open................
We take way to many penalties...................
We do NOT convert enough 3rd down plays .....................
We drop way too many passes.....................
We drop way too many passes that could have been TD's.......................

It IS going to be a LONGGGGGGGGG season based on this game and the way the OLINE is performing........I will watch all the games NOT on Peacock , but my enthusiasm going into the rest of the seasons games will be less than optimistic......

Face it , it's back to our history of one good season every 6-8 years.........

We have no consistency as far as winning for more than one unique season.........

I am hoping for better results this year in BB , but I'm not going overboard in my expectations.........Underperforming results take a bigger toll on my optimism than earlier in my life.................

Take care , my friends.........I'm just flushing this game out of my system and I'm glad my Doctor gave me a new script for a med that helps with times like this.........

How did Coach B let us backslide to this extent? We look totally undisciplined. We look lost on both sides of the ball. At this point the smart play is getting special teams on the field and praying they make a play? Can we beat Nebraska for the title 4th worst team in the B1G? How do you turn this around? Not trolling. How does Coach B turn this around?

We lost a lot of players from last year’s team and I think both Henry and Lunney are in over their heads. No protection from the OL. Need to hit the portal in the offseason and concentrate on finding some experienced OL’s to protect Altmyer.

We lost a lot of really talented players on defense and replaced them with guys without a ton of reps. Basically the entire back end and all but one of the linebackers are new. Out of our top 10 tacklers in this game 5 of them are sophomores. We also lost two guys on NFL rosters on the oline and it seems like the talent behind them is not the same plus everybody on the oline seems to be playing hurt.

Does Coach B call the defense? If not, it’s time he does. Also, the Lunney experiment should be over if this continues. How many games in do we establish a shred of an identity.

Two word review: !!!! Sandwich.

Embarrassing on all levels to get manhandled by a pretty bad team. Looks likely that the streak of not having back to back seasons of winning seasons will continue. Getting hard to see where 3-4 more wins come from, especially with many injuries piling up (really fortunate last season).

Glad that game was on streaming only.

Friday becomes must win for any likely chance of a turnaround/bowl game. Disaster 5 game start to season. No sugar coating it.

Yeah teams are running all over our OL and Altmyer has no time to throw the ball. Even against FAU, our OL was getting beat.
I know he needs time but we also don't hot route it enough. There's also gotta be some calls for just a quick 3 step dropback. It seems like so many plays call for long developing routes. I don't think we challenge opposing linebackers to cover enough.

Already being in the gun, why do we need 3 step drops?

I've been a big defender of having games on streaming services, but I just realized the most enormous downside (for me at least). You can't flip channels without going through a whole lot of hassel. Trying to switch to the KU/UT game during a commercial break nearly caused an aneurism.

As far as this game--I didn't expect to win, but I didn't expect to get pantsed on national streaming.
What exactly is your defense for having games on streaming services? Inquiring minds want to know. Would you rather our team gets pantsed (?) on NBC tonight or ESPN for the whole country to see? National streaming LOL.

Overmatched coordinators, overrated coaching, poor o-line play, soft defense.

Lunney = Peterson. Let’s move on and find a o-coordinator who has a vision and a plan.
Henry is just not ready. Need to tear up current contract and throw more money and more responsibility to Leonhard. Henry can learn from him for a few years.

Need some changes in staff and their identity and philosophy before the wheels fall off completely.

If I’m coach, Feagin starts at RB and Elzy starts at WR. Take time away from McCray, Washington and Bryant. Keep a tight end on the line to help the right tackle and move Adams back to left guard. Use More quick hitting passes. No more long developing routes where Luke holds the ball. He doesn’t have 3 seconds to survey the field. More like 1 second. Use Altmyers running ability a little more but don’t over use the qb run.

on defense, blitz often. Play man in the secondary. Gamble some. Bench db’s for post play yapping. It’s embarrassing.

live with the results, good or bad.
