Purdue 83, Illinois 78 Postgame

One great thing painter did was have a person pressure Domask brought the ball up to court. At the end of the game he was spent.

Lots of home cooking.

That would have been a win if the refs called it even.
Disagree 100%

Foul calls were the same 19 on IL 17 on PU
Edey was in foul trouble throughout the gm
The flagrant call was a break for the illini.

Defense just couldn't get stops and when they did Purdue dominated the boards.

Gotta tip the cap to Kaufman Ren and PU. They were better tonight.

Far from a pyrrhic loss, but when you do so many things poorly and lose by 5 to PU at Mackey, you have to believe you can win in Champaign.

Underwood's teams are notorious for horrible starts, a trait that seems to have been buried this year. But alas, the sputtering, blundering start was provided as fodder for Purdue's coming out on fire.

Lessons need to be learned and confidence maintained. Lots of good things happened....but too late. Keep on working and getting better and raise the floor higher than what we saw tonight. These guys know they were too hyped and too playing too quickly from the tip. Its a long season with more long games..................to be won!!!!!! Go Illini!!!

Hope all those who bet on our guys -10.5 are happy. ;)

To whomever was asking for a 79-89 game when it was 55-70: I almost reminded you that it's crazy to expect 47 points against Purdue in a half, especially so if asking for 24 points in the last 8 minutes.

I bit my tongue, but props. These Illini got another 23.

I love Ty Rodgers as much as anyone can love Ty Rodgers.

You can't win if he doesn't even fake like he is going to look to take a jumper. You can't.
Yeah, feel like Brad did him a solid sending him out to start the 2nd half when he shouldn’t have. I like the move because he deserves it but if that’s at the end of the season he won’t do that.

I’m very proud of this team. Watching this team again come back against a great Purdue team. But we got into too big of a hole in the first half.

Things couldn’t have gone better

Edey in foul trouble ✅
Coleman not in foul trouble ✅
Favorable calls (shocked) ✅

But we didn’t rebound well enough and they hit everything in the first half.

I am looking forward to the rematch in Champaign.
Uhm... Favorable calls is a STRETCH. About the only thing that went our way was the Flagrant, which was the right call. Multiple fouls on casper the ghost when we were playing good defense. Missed out of bounds calls. No 3-second calls on Edey. Refs rode the Boiler Maker train tonight...

Dude they got 3-4 homer calls during our comebacks/runs that ruined our momentum. We got hosed a few times but we should’ve still lost the game. Cmon man.

Yeah we got some calls too. Refs weren't the problem in this game.

Made 'em sweat the finish. Guess that is a small victory.
Unfortunately, we looked like a deer in the headlights to start the game. Think they weren't ready for how big and physical Purdue would be compared to NW. I think now that everyone has got a look at Edey, that might not be the case in Champaign on the rematch.
Regarding Ty, this is a bad matchup for him. Normally he could get the ball into motion and then go down onto the block and make a play from there. But with Edey guarding him, getting to the block makes little sense. Definitely need to play Harmon at PG against Purdue, rather than Ty. Most games I don't think this will be as big as a factor as most teams don't have a big that is so big that Ty can't outmaneuver them.
TSJ would have definitely helped this game.
