Well this is also where Lovie's character comes in. He will teach him to be a responsible man and hopefully the answer at QB for us.

Poor man's Terrelle Pryor? The raw ability is obvious but he has struggled his first two years (not even best statistical qb on his juco team). I'm remaining positive and hoping McGee can work his magic.

He also came to that team really late, hes gonna have a bit of winter, all of spring and summer to learn this McGee's offense. Obviously hes got the talent otherwise Lovie and McGee wouldnt have recruited him.On the other hand I also thinks this is going to matter with how Lovie is gonna recruit going forward. why had no one heard of DLaw be for this? Why is Lovie being secretive?

I have to trust this staff. Obviously a lot of top schools say a lot in him. In Lovie (and McGee) we trust.

For everyone excited about this, check his juco numbers. This is in no way a 'perception changer.'

Were there any other teams connected to Lawson, because I can't seem to find anything in regards to his (second) recruitment.

We know this staff is not afraid to trust their own evaluations, and has already found some diamonds in the rough. Hope that Lawson can come in and find success!

yes, eligible this year

How is it he would be immediately eligible? I thought that only in the case where a player had graduated with a degree could they transfer and have immediate eligibility. If he was a member of the Class of 2015, he couldn't have already graduated. What's the rule?

By Illinir1: Got it. Jucco transfer.

So, what's the scouting report? He's big - 6'6", 230 - and mobile. What else do we know? He's going to be a junior and will be eligible immediately?

Only had a month at new school before he saw his first action. That's tough to do no matter who you are.

If you're a qualifier out of HS then you don't have to get a degree from the JC.

Overly optimistic expectations are the only thing that keeps us going most years!!! Hope he can live up to the hype!

I'm not sure how much hype there really is. He was highly rated out of high school but since written off. He looks like a kid with tremendous physical tools that could have a major upside if he can pull it together off the field and in the class room.

Lovie it. Trust the system. This kid will flourish under Garrick/Lovie. Drop back passers are done. Feel bad for George Jr., but Chase is the backup (If he stays), for now. Go Illini:shield:

I would not count Chase out yet. Lets let them compete for it.

Nice catch, Lovie!

I just spent time watching his rivals video and.....

Huge frame, speed, good arm....teach 'em up, Coach!

Love my Illini!
