And yet we question who he plays after every game....
You would think at this point he would know to consult the board. Maybe you could just pass along these elite tidbits as he may be short on time.

I'm not sure I have ever heard a top recruit commit say that a strength coach was key to his decision, continuing evidence that Adam Fletcher is the best s/c coach in the country.

I'm sure JW heard that and hoping he will raise / extend Fletch's agreement to keep him.
Fletch will (probably has been) be getting interest from other programs.
true - and that he played college hoops and was a starter at Miami OH undoubtedly helps him relate to players too

Was thinking along the same lines, does Fletch’s contract have a buyout?

Only half kidding.

The snakebitten Illini fan in me will, on some level, be in doubt right up until his jersey is hoisted up on a banner next to Kofi's after his All-American career in Champaign is over.
After the last two seasons I feel a lot less snakebitten. I know what you mean, but having JW here as AD has, slowly, done wonders for my condition. Football and basketball making strides... I mean it feels like everyone knows what they're doing. Win or lose I can attend a game, have fun, and feel good afterwards. I think JW and Co might have finally cured me. I mean... I feel HAPPY. Anyone else out there feel weirdly optimistic? I mean, not orange koolaid optimistic and not cautiously but mostly afraid optimistic, but actually, positively optimistic. This all feels like it's NOT a trap. LOL C'mon some of you out there have to know what I mean. Or have I finally lost it. Could be covid related. IDK.

Yep. We have 6-7 players can play 1-3. Especially the SG position is very crowded now. I don't want to jinx but I start to doubt how long we can keep all these great guards on roster. Definitely a good problem to have.
I thought exact same but isn't this a great problem to have? I think, so long as they "grade out on D," a lot of kids are going to play and we're going to push tempo. I hope that's where we are headed. With our bench we should run teams into the ground. I didn't really see us do this the last couple years though, I mean Kofi doesn't lend himself to 40 minutes of hell, but we'll see. I think we have better handles at the 1, we have better threats on the perimeter, and I think we hit the boards better next year. Kofi's the big question right now. He really dictates our style of play. If he does come back, I want him to play a lot meaner and slam every bucket home. I'd rather see him foul out every single game than get beat up like he did this year.

WTF are you talking about? As of now, we have four guards in our prospective lineup, two of whom are 1s.

People keep repeating this so much that misinformed fans think it's true. Even with the addition of Skyy, we are still short on guards.

Now if you'd talking about 3s, we seem to have a few. RJ, Melendez, Rodgers. Non of those three is a guard and most certainly not a 1. All three are more likely to play the 4 than they are the 1 or even the 2.

Assuming Kofi is returning, we absolutely should be looking for another guard. Obviously, Shannon or Moore would fit the bill.

So would RJ sub in for Melendez when he gets in foul trouble? ;) Would agree that we are going to be closer to a one size fits all except for Kofi and a couple others.

Might seem trivial, but this is great team building. Glad these young men realize that if they are going to accomplish what they want to during their college career, they need to do it together.
Skyy strikes me as a mature, savvy, young man. We had another one of those a bit ago that worked out pretty well...Can't wait to see this group in action!

I knew the U of I was good in the Science(s) but apparently somewhere in a deep, secret, basement laboratory we’ve perfected cloning Let’s hope our di$covery doesn’t find it’s way to the Blue Bloods. ;)
