So let's say Waino is 100% cleared to pitch. Do you start him in a postseason game? It's a big risk to take. I was also wondering when the minor league seasons end. I was thinking they ended in September so would Waino even be able to make rehab starts?

I would want him to make at least 2 good starts, prior to the playoffs.
I'm ok with it being during the stretch run.

Moss with the walk off bomb! The lead over Pittsburgh is pushed back to 6 games. And they come to St. Louis this weekend.

Pirates now have a losing record against every Central Division rival. 58-21 against all others.

I thought for sure with the opponents we had scheduled last weekend through middle to end of September and Pittsburghs schedule, that there would be a 1 game maybe 2 game separation right now between us. But I am extremely happy we have pushed it out. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to keep division lead, now I can't see us loosing it. I hope this keeps up.

Wacha skipping tonight's start and the weekend start with the Pirates. Lynn also skipping the Pirates start. Why not go all out against the Pirates then rest guys next week? Either way, I can't see us losing the division now but I don't want to risk it.

I don't mind them skipping either one. Both guys need the break, and a start in October is more important.

I just hope we don't push the lead too far. That's when guys will test and get out of their funk. I rather see a 3-4 game lead going into the final weekend to keep us fresh.

Lynn could be skipped because of his ankle injury last Saturday.

It's not like Martinez, Garcia, and Lackey are scrubs. Think we have the advantage in every matchup except against Gerrit Cole.

Big series this weekend. Let's put away these pesky pirates. We know they'll be ready to play, and they have that damn aramis ramirez. Our hitting must stay hot!

Go Pirates !! Time to knock the Cardinals off their pitch !! Need this series if we hope to win the division.

...i stand corrected...

Bad game for the Cards. But they still have the upper hand. If they just win half their remaining games (13 of 26), which they should, especially with the injured players coming back, the Pirates would have to go 19-8 just to tie them. Hope Lynn is in top form vs. the Cubs tomorrow.

So we lose to the Pirates when the Cubs need us to win? I'm fine with that. Although, I admit a one game playoff would be pretty fun to watch at Wrigley.

Cards cluster luck ran out today. Could the Cardinals collapse down the stretch?. The term "Boston Massacre" was used to refer to a season-changing weedend when the Yankees swept Boston at Fenway Park to help erase a 7.5 game Boston lead with 32 games remaining.

The Red Sox lost 14 of 17 during that stretch, yet won their final eight games to force a one-game playoff

Big City is back baby! And Grichuk is back in the starting lineup after hitting a home run last night. We're getting healthy guys!

I expect Matt Adams will be our everyday first baseman with Piscotty in left and Grichuk in center. Then when Holliday comes back Matheny will have to make a decision between Piscotty or Adams at 1B.

According to Derrick Goold, Grichuk hasn't been able to throw without discomfort, and now they're throwing him in the lineup at CF of all places. I don't like risking his long-term health at this point of the season.

So healthy he has to flip the ball to Heyward to get it back in the infield. It's times like these when I wouldn't mind the NL having the DH.
