Not sure how everyone feels about Jay going there, but I loved it. That is not an easy throw for someone flat footed.

I like it as well. With 0 outs I wouldn't, but given the circumstance of this one, I do.

How about the feeling that we probably wouldn't be able to comeback tonight? I had it. Not even gonna lie.

Still ways to go but still.

Keep on rollin'! As a side note, if Matheny wants Carpenter in the 2 hole long term then he should seriously considered batting Wong leadoff. He's been great so far this season.

Marco and Jaime are both working their way back. I would imagine Marco gets one rehab start start and if he feels strong then he'll get called up.

I want nothing more than to send the cubs out of St Louis with a sub .500 record.

I understand the optimism by cubs fans, but they need to give it til the asg before they get cocky about this team. I'm already sick of them blowing up my Facebook newsfeed, lol. Oh well, I guess it's good for baseball.

Before the season started, I predicted three things that I thought would happen.
1) Wainwright would suffer a major injury.
2) The Cubs and their new talent would be a competitor.
3) The Cards would have a down year and possibly miss the postseason.

All that, and I'm a Cards fan!

So far, the first two are correct. I'm dead wrong on the third. I think at this point, it would be nothing short of a colossal collapse that keeps the Cards out of the playoffs. The Cubs are still flawed, for sure. That bullpen is a complete sieve. But if you put them next to the Pirates and their anemic offense, with the Reds and Brewers being generally awful, the Cubs are arguably the second-best team in the division.

The Cubs will not be a problem because they will hit a wall in the dog days of July/August. I was telling people that at the end of last season when Cubs fans were feeling so optimistic. You can't go from being one of the worst teams in the league the past 5+ years to being a playoff team in one offseason. The only way they are within 7-8 games of us at the end of the season is if we have more major injuries.

I believe the Cubs were pretty good in the second half last year.

Before the All-Star break last year, the Cubs were 40-54. After the break they were 33-35.

Interesting. I was led to believe their second half was better than that. Not that it makes a huge difference either way..

Matt Carpenter out for a second straight game. I know yesterday's was planned. Today due to pitching matchup or is there something wrong with him? Please no.

Carpenter out with "extreme fatigue" would probably imagine this is a result from that light headedness/dehydration he had last week. Hope he bounces back for next week.

Here's to hoping baby Pedro has his form back tonight.

I think he will. It is all between the ears with him. I wonder why the staff hasn't reeled his pitching motion after he delivers a pitch. Watch how far he drifts towards the first base line after the ball is fired.
