Peralta baby! Big win and got the job done in Chicago. And what a time to call up Johnson. Jury is still out on whether or not to get a new first baseman. We'll see what the offense is like with Holliday back. Anyone know who will be available around the trade deadline? I've heard Adam Lind's name thrown around.

Let's get a split in Pittsburgh before a much needed break.

Piscotty has been working on a transition to first base. I like that. He could be our everyday first baseman by the playoffs.

A consistent strike zone is required for your plan to be effective.

Totally agree. I just thought it was more often to tight so swinging away at the lower 1/3 was less disciplined than the Cubs approach that night. While we whined, (me included) they waited for the forced pitch in the heart of the plate. Peralta got one there too which made it less of a point anyway. Go Cards!

Way to go Carlos!

When are we going to get a like button so I can just click that. Lol. Carlos is deserving, still weird Kershaw wasn't selected. Even if we own him in post season dude is the best pitcher in the game.

It happens. Hard for me to complain since the bullpen has held 1 or 2 run leads so often. Or kept us in the game to give us a chance to come back. Let's get Holliday and Jay back then maybe the bullpen doesn't have to constantly be under pressure.

True and I tend to agree but some games are just bigger than others. To lose that way on back to back nights was really tough. Overall, great first half and here's to a great second half.

Cards play 14 of their next 16 at home, while Pittsburgh plays 12 of their next 16 on the road, with the four home games against Washington. A good chance for the Cards to widen the gap on the Pirates again.

Pitt has a much more difficult post all star break schedule.

However the Cardinals still need to take care of business at home like they have been.

Injuries starting to take their toll. Bucs will be tough to fend off.

Any one that has been paying more attention than I know when folks are due back from injuries?

Last I heard, Matt Holliday should be back for the first game (vs the Mets) after the All-Star break

That is 1, and a big one! It should deepen the lineup. Having the best record in baseball, with all of the injuries has been amazing. I just hope that they are healthy at the end of the season.

And Jordan Walden has started throwing again. He should be back in the next couple of weeks. He will be a huge lift to a bullpen that has looked worn down recently.

And Bucs have had the fewest games lost to injury of any team in the majors (they've had injuries just mainly to fringe players on their team) but of course that number will not stay the same with 3B Josh Harrison set to be out for about 6-8 weeks.
